People come in all colors, shapes and sizes. More people are plus size, so the market demands the need be met.

I'm a fat chic (though I'm slowly shrinking) and I think there should not be any more plus sized models. I think being overweight is a medical condition and has been proven to cause multiple medical conditions. I also think it's time to do away with the anorexic models, because being extremely underweight is just as bad if not worse than being overweight.

I know that no one is perfect and it would be nice if people didn't go over ten pounds either way, but I think if you endorse either extreme, you're just causing more unhealthy thinking and eating.

There's a misconception that models should represent the average woman. I absolutely disagree. Models set examples. If the average woman is 15 pounds overweight (more diabetes, heart problems), then it shouldn't be glamorized, it should be advised against. Likewise, the present trend of nasty anorexic models is obviously unhealthy, thousands of young ladies die trying to look like them yearly in the United States alone.

I'm for moderation and I hope I've helped you, by providing food for thought, and not a good source to plagiarise for tomorrow's speech.

There are some who know they will undoubtedly be plus size for the rest of their lives and are okay with it. We need more plus size models so plus size people can envision how they would look in the clothing as well as come to understand the styles of clothing that would enhance and compliment their body type.

Because there are more plus-size women.

Cut-and-pasted from the site below:

10.9 percent of women wear a size 14
10.8 percent wear a size 12
9.2 percent wear a size 16

Add that up, 30.9 percent of women in this country wear between a size 12 and 16!

In total, over 48 percent of women wear a size 12 or larger.

Only 12.8 percent of women are sizes 0-6

(They have other good statistics and sources, too.)

I WOULD LOOK AT THE AVG SIZE OF THE AVG WOMAN. I THINK IT IS A SIZE 12-14 WHICH IS CONSIDERED A PLUS SIZE. PLUS THE IMAGES OF THE SUPERMODELS ARE SICKLY TOO THIN AND NOT A POSITIVE ROLE MODEL FOR TEENS TRYING TO STARVE THEMSELVES TO REACH A SIZE THAT MOST CAN'T.
