So the tree, holly, wreaths, mistletoe, eating of ham, etc are derived from Yule (pre-christianity). When did Christians adapt the Yule traditions and why?

So why do we celebrate Christmas with so much more fanfare than Easter? Christmas celebrates Jesus Christ's birth, and Easter celebrates His death and resurrection. Why are there no Easter carols? Why don't people travel across country, or across the world, on Easter, or even Good Friday, to be with family? Why don't we give Easter presents (aside from little kids getting easter baskets with gifts, eggs, chocolates, etc. in them)?

Does it have to do with how we celebrate and are joyous when a birth happens, and sad and mournful when a death happens? Jesus' death upon the Cross was not a sad death like you normally have happen to your friends and family. It was sad to see how he suffered and died, but the good news is that he's ALIVE. He defeated death, hell, and the devil! If anyone saw "The Passion of the Christ", you remember the scene with the devil getting angry after Jesus' death. The devil knew that Jesus was VICTORIOUS forevermore!!

Suposely Jesus was baptised by John the Baptist to get rid of the "sin" at the moment of the conception between Mary and Josep...But in the Bible it also says tht Jesus was consived without sin , that Mary was still a virgin when Jesus was born...So if Jesus was concibed without sin by the holy spirit and keeping Mary as a Virgin... why dis John the Baptist baptised Jesus? The Baptism is to get rid of the sin in wich th baby was made.....
It's so confusing, maybe something is a lie....what? the extrange conception of the Virgin Mary, still being virgin even the boy was born? or John the baptist make a mistake?

Nosotras comemos means We eat, right ? And it refers to a we that is feminine. If there are more girls that boys in "we" do I use nosotros or nosotras ?

And as you know..the word Hablo means I speak so it is not that important to say Yo hablo, right ? Unless you really want to empasis it or tell that you are the only one who speak. But if it is Habla it can mean she speak, he speak and you (formal) speak so is it important to say Ella,el,usted habla instead of just habla ???

Anyway, I think Spanish is a really beautiful language to learn..:)

My foreign friends always used to take shots at Americans, but used to always confide, in the end, that they really admired us. Over the last couple of years the admiration has waned though. Any similar experiences? I feel allot less proud when I travel too. I get confronted allot more about the things we are doing around the world. It's easy to be the typical flag waving myopic American simpleton and just think the whole rest of the world is always wrong and we are right all the time. But it's getting harder to hold your head up proudly overseas these days if you are an American once you start talking to people and hearing what they have to say.

I used to be really afraid of them because our history teacher would tell us they were cold-blooded murderers; monsters. Recently Iv'e read about the Third Reich and WW2 and have a better understanding on who they were. hi, i'm a christian guy who wants to know why christian groups and youth pastors and stuff say its wrong to have sex before you get married.
