The world is full of people who can't cope or we wouldn't have suicides. Maybe what this person thinks is that anyone who believes in God is given the grace to handle what life has to offer, good or bad. At any rate, people who say things like this mean well & I wouldn't make a lot of it; they mean to console. They are well-intended so please be patient with them. Smile, say thank you & let it roll over your head. Be just as gracious to them as they think they are to you.

I think the problem is that Christians are people, and make mistakes just like everyone else and some Christians have their own preconceived ideas about how God works based upon their own world view. The thing is: it seems that a lot of us go around believing that we have to ram teaching down people's throats to be 'holy' and that everything happens for a reason that was once predetermined by God. I think this kind of ignorance is a bit of a safety blanket for some, and they try to back it up with pseudo-theology which they think they remember hearing somewhere from someone random.
If you look at how Jesus acted around people, he just went and made friends with them, had dinner, chatted, that kind of thing and people saw something special in him and wanted to know what he had that made him that way. He didn't give out false promises or say stupid throw away statements to sound holy, and certainly had a damn sight more tact than the people you seem to have met. Jesus said that salvation was something that nobody could earn, that God chose to give, he never promised everything would be all hunky dorey just because you join his club. I'm truly sorry that you've had the misfortune of meeting Christians like that, who think they have to say the "right" things so they can earn God's favour, and I hope that you can understand that we're not all like those people... they sound like jerks.GRRRRRRRRRR!

You will know the answer to that when you are at your very darkest hour and are holding the gun to your head and preparing to pull the trigger. Out of desperation. Then you will know the answer to your delimma. But not a moment before. I know. I been there. Being in a wheelchair is a terrible inconvenience to say the least. But you have not seen the very worst life can give. Not until you are diagnosed with cancer and at the same time receive a report that your loved ones were just wiped out in a car wreck. You will only know the answer to your situation and this "allowing more to be put on you than you can bear" thing.

if i understand your question correctly what bothers you is people telling you how to feel about your disability. although they mean well you haven't asked them their opinion and it seems to you they're forcing their sympathy on you. it's easy for them to say these things, but since they're not in your shoes they don't know what they're talking about. ???
personally, i don't share the christian faith but i still want to believe that life doesn't give us more than we can handle. at the same time everyone hopes that they won't be given too hard a test. try to give people the benefit of the doubt - they may mean well but don't know how to act with someone who has a physical handicap.

We have to learn somehow. If we never went through hard times, we would never learn.
Most bad things in the world such as murder, rape, racism, etc. are not God's work. Those are satan's works.
Think of all the GOOD things in the world. How can atheists live their lives ignoring those?

I think Mother Theresea said something like "I know God won't give me more than I can handle, but I just wish he didn't trust me so much." Looks like God trusts you a lot too.

ill take my chances in believing that there is a God. for one if im right about God and live a decent life ill go to heaven...if im wrong ill be 6ft under when i die and wont be able to complain about how difficult it was to live a good life. If your wrong about God tho and dont live a decent life youll end up going to hell.
