They as a People do not scare Me. The concept behind what They stood for and the heinous crimes They carried out do.
I was able to meet a Man, years ago, that Served in World War I. His job was to photograph elements, incidents, and results of the fighting. He still had the black and white photos, probably copies, but far too real. There were pictures of the lifeless, naked bodies that filled empty rail cars, and then other photos of the bodies, thousands of Them, laying on the flat rail cars, it had been snowing. These People were simply skin and bones. I had never seen bones stick out like that on a body before. Everything had been taken from Them. There were pictures of casualties of the Soldiers, and some of horses. There was one of a German Solider that the U.S. Troops got a hold of.
The Germans would take truck loads of Men, Woman, and Children out of town and make them dig a hole. The must have dug forever, the hole was like the size a swimming pool would fit into. Then He said the Germans would open fire and kill all but the Ones that were to replace to dirt. He said that Sometimes They were buried alive to save on bullets. I do not know how He could stand witnessing these things. There were many more.
The worst, if a worst can be chosen out of this atrocity, was of the American Prisoner's of War, and Other Allied Forces, who were also P.O.W.'s, that were shot, while trying to run for Freedom. The German Forces had received word that the United States Forces were quickly approaching, and winning, and that soon the war would be over. So the German's poured gasoline on the Prisoner's and set Them on fire. They didn't want Them to escape, or anyone to see what They had done to Them. The Ones that ran were shot. One Solider made it all the way to the fence and had raised up to start to climb it. He was burned as well.
It was quite, as We listened and saw a bit of Our History, and we wept, as I am now.
God Bless

Nazis don't frighten me but then I'm not one of their intended victims. Neo-Nazis (meaning those who have become Nazis after WW2) are alive & well today in Europe where anti-semitism is on the rise; especially in Germany & Sweden.
Hopefully, the world will never see another with the power & charisma of a Hitler. And, by the way, saying that the nazis were "cruel" is the understatement of the year.
I am a white Christian living in the US.

It's the banality of evil. The things that are the most heinous and evil are often the things that seem benign. Generally, I'm adverse to using the word evil, except when it comes to actions. Nazis partook of evil actions despite the fact that they were for the most part, normal human beings. However, it's not just or accurate to lump all German or all members of the German Armed Forces during WW2 together. It's important to distinguish the SS from the regulars, the actions of the two groups and the actions of individuals within the two groups.

Ah, but what about the Death Eaters? I think they were modeled on the Nazis. Any group of people who are fired up in hate and rage are terrifying. They are called by many names in different places, but all share a common root. a lust for power born of fear, and the joy of brutality born of pride.
I hope I haven't triggered any new nightmares.

Nowadays we have White supremesists or skin heads. But I hear you- it was a terrible time to live in Europe and the mistreatment was not only to the Jews, my mother was Lithuanian and her relatives were also tortured under the Nazi regime. Most of the soldiers were doing exactly what our soldiers in Iraq are doing- following orders- and if they didnt follow orders, they could and would be killed.

Nazism is an idealogy, ie, a way. It is not just a single person. It embraces principles and ideas. Nazis per se do not scare me but governments taking on nazism as a way to govern scare the hell out of me.

No, Nazis are angelic saints compared to some of the other groups inhabiting the US. If Nazis were running america, the American Dream would still be alive. As it is, white people in 50 years will be non existant and the US will be receiving UN handouts from Europe, Japan and China

eh no, they're ideologies are twisted, but rational in some degree more than others.
Neo-Nazi's on the other hand aare an entirely different animal. They're normally low-class, extremists with less education.
