Shariah Law is the legal philosophy & standards that are based on the Quran. Shariah runs counter to (and appears harsher than) most Western laws. However, many things commonly cited as elements of Shariah Law come out of areas of the world where tribal societies rule, education is poor and poverty is extreme, so I don't know whether the seeming atrocities attributed to Shariah Law are common among Western Muslims. Some examples of Sharia proscriptions:

-Stoning and/or whipping adulterers & homosexuals.
-Amputating the hands of thieves.
-Preventing women from seeking a divorce (while allowing men to divorce their wives simply by telling her three times).
-Outlawing marriage between Muslims and non-Muslims.
-Execution of anyone who leaves the Muslim faith.
-Execution of anyone who speaks ill of Allah, Muhammad, or Islam.

Are such inequities embraced by Western Muslims, or are they primarily cultural relics held only by extreme conservatives and tribal societies?

Hi, I have two really close friends who are waiters at a nice restaurant downtown. Anyway, they are two of the nicest guys around, but after having waited tables over the past year, they have grown to hate serving Black people. Why? Because they say that Black people, without fail, come in, demand everything and then NEVER tip (or if they do tip, it's at most one dollar). Now, a lot of people would call my pals racist...but is it racist to not want to serve a group of people who, in general, are very rude and cheap? They say even their Black co-workers hate serving Black people...is that sad? I know not ALL Black people are cheap and rude at restaurants, but if the majority are, isn't it understandable that some waiters/waitresses would not want to serve them? And don't go crying that just bc they're Black, they get bad service...not true. I feel like a lot of Black patrons have a "you owe me" mentality..like they were the victims of awful crap and now they're getting back.

My boyfriend and I have been together for two years. I want to bring him home for Thanksgiving, however the majority of my family consists of conservative Southerners. My parents have met him, however I'm not so sure they would want the pressure of having to introduce him to the entire family. Their views towards homosexuality have changed since realizing that I'm completely "normal," however I don't know if they are ready to accept my boyfriend as family. I'm completely out and I want to take my boyfriend home with me, but I don't want to pressure my family into a situation they are not prepared for...

If God put everyone on earth to fulfill a purpose, then aren't murderers fulfilling their purpose also? So God is Almighty and he knows EVERYTHING. If he gives you agressive genes, and then places you in a bad enviroment, and then gives you "free will", he knows you will be a murderer. How can He make you something and then punish you for it? If everything is for a reason, then Hell doesn't make sense because then evil is for a reason...

Are you people for real! Are you really tying to say that what Mr. Richards said was ok? The comments that were made were totally out of line. If a BLACK man or woman would have said something like that the news wouldn't let it go that easy. He's a racist pig that needs to take his 1940's mind state and sit on it. Racism is not cool from anyone period! Maybe Michael said what White America is saying & thinking already. Black America needs to ride Mr. Richard's *** just like White America rides Michael Jackson, Mike Tyson, Kobe Bryant and all other black people.

We all know that the Bible interprets itself.
Mark of the beast.....
mark=Approval, sign of ownership (Ezekiel 9: 4; Revelation 7: 2-3)
beast=Kingdom, empire, political power or government that comes in contact with God's people (Daniel 7: 23)

So the mark of the beast will be sign of ownership by a kingdom, political power or goverment.

What is God's sign? DEUTERONOMY 6:8 And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes. (Talking about the commandments of God)

Whats the "other" mark?
"Of course the Catholic Church claims that the change (Saturday Sabbath to Sunday) was her act... And the act is a MARK of her ecclesiastical authority in religious things." H.F. Thomas, Chancellor of Cardinal Gibbons.
"Sunday is our MARK or authority. . .the church is above the Bible, and this transference of Sabbath observance is proof of that fact" Catholic Record of London, Ontario Sept 1,1923.

Anybody agree?

Hi all, my friend has a strange problem. She just moved to a new place and she found a friend. This friend has been very helpful and friendly during their move to this new place. The problem is that, she is now at my friends place all the time. Both are home makers. She is at my friend’s apartment for hours. My friend has tried excuses like I have some work, cooking, laundry etc. She comes back and says that she will help too. My friend is stuck. Do you have any ideas or proper manners to tell her to leave? My friend like this woman and doesn't want to lose her as a friend.

I mean, is it hilarious to laugh at someone's belief because it is different, or because you are comfortable with your misconception of a stereotype (ie: "all Christians" agree with Pat Robertson), or what?

I find it so strange that people who call themselves athiests and are looking for tolerance, and Wiccans, who are looking for tolerance, and agnostics, who are looking for tolerance... are finding such pleasure in being negative and condescending to people who have a belief in God or read the Bible.

Is is it just really fun to insult someone, who by the tenants of their faith, can't really insult you back?

One claim he made was that he was sent by the Creator to show us what our Creator is like, and our Creator's desire for us. Jesus did not just talk, there was power in his life. Remember, his followers who saw him, and there were many, allowed themselves to be killed for there faith. Why? Because they saw the power of God in Jesus' life. One or two nuts might allow themselves to be killed, but not many hundreds. And christian martyrs were unique, they died because they saw Jesus, they heard the voice from heavan that said " This is my beloved son, in whom I am well pleased".
