Are you people for real! Are you really tying to say that what Mr. Richards said was ok? The comments that were made were totally out of line. If a BLACK man or woman would have said something like that the news wouldn't let it go that easy. He's a racist pig that needs to take his 1940's mind state and sit on it. Racism is not cool from anyone period! Maybe Michael said what White America is saying & thinking already. Black America needs to ride Mr. Richard's *** just like White America rides Michael Jackson, Mike Tyson, Kobe Bryant and all other black people.

This is to sophieb two posts above. Your ignorance is showing. You are speaking in general terms when you say that Blacks call themselves that name. I have never used that word and I don't associate with people who do. In certain circles members of the African American community may use that word in order to remove the negative connotation. However, there are many others who will never use that word because although it is as you say just a word it is steeped in hundreds of years of history of injustice and inequality and the use of that word is a reminder of the degradation and suffering of an entire bloodline.
Also, I don't know anyone who goes to the comedy club to be disrespected, but rather entertained. Being a comedian is a job and like any other job you have to know your roles and responsibilities one of which is knowing how to handle getting heckled. There is no defense or excuse for Michael Richards' behavior.

What Michael Richards said wasn't ok at all, they were total out of line comments. You say (or type w/e) that if a black man man or woman would have said something like this the news media wouldn't let it go. That's a lie if a black man had said these comments to a couple whites it probably would never have been mentioned at all. In addition the hecklers later called him a cracker. In America there will always be double standards. I don't agree on what Richards. They were horrible comments. You also said white America ride MJ, Mike Tyson etc...well look at what they did MJ is just nuts, Mike to (HE HAD A PET TIGER!!!!) and Kobe is a mega NBA superstar so he will always be in the spotlight. Rethink all of this, look at it in a new light.

I'm totally cool with what MR said. It was without a doubt the most ballsy thing I've seen in a while. I would be pissed if some apes were f***ing with me while I was trying to earn a living too. The racial remarks came from the blacks in the audience first, which started the whole incident, but no one is mentioning that. Oh, and Jamie Foxx has threatened to beat up MR if he ever sees him? As if he personally was the one in the audience being called a ***-ger. He's an ignoramus with a gang mentality. And why is it that black comedians trash other groups viciously and no one cries about it? Seems like ***-gers can only dish out the abuse. I hope if Jamie Foxx pulls any **** on MR some people will jump in and whale on that ***** ugly *** ***-ger's face.

Sorry but you're wrong. Had they been white Richards would have gone insane and called them *******. Instead he called them n---. But that's what they were - who the f goes and heckles a comedian, especially Richards? Who pays that money just to make sure EVERYONE in the room is disturbed and disrupted? I guarentee you that every single person was thinking exactly what Richards was saying because that guy was a complete and total ******. And now he wants to sue, try and make some money from the whole thing.

Totally lived up to the word. Only thing Richards did is take it a bit too far and lost control. If he'd stayed in control no one would have blinked an eye.

Michael Jackson was on trial for child abuse... Bryant was on trial for rape... Tyson is wacked out of his head, don't use him as an example. You should of thrown OJ in there, but as of lately, even all of his supporters can't believe whats going on. It's a damn shame, a celebrity got taped flipping out at two guys and used the "N" word. It's not professional and will ruin his career, which it should. Maybe White America should attack Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, Carlos Delgado, Denzel Washington, even Martin Luther King. You're such an ***, Its 2006, stop using your race. I'm a white guy with many black friends and I'm tired of this bullshit. Bottom line is that you're the racist.

Let's put this entire situation in perspective as people and not of race. Michael Richards used race to get those hecklers in the crowd angry. What he said was racist. Now we must discover if he actually let those words come out of his mouth because he is a racist. In trying to discover the truth of this we must look at the events that succeeded his racist rants -- the David Letterman appearance. It is quite possible that Jerry Seinfeld had Michael Richards on the show to apologize because Seinfeld was on the show promoting Season 7 of the Seinfeld dvd. I'm sure Seinfeld did not want his dvd sales to hurt, and based on that, convinced Michael Richards to appear. As for Richard's apology, it certainly did not seem heartfelt and it didn't appear as if he really meant what he said. He sounded like a guy who was apologizing because somebody else made him. Therefore, based on this evidence, is Richard's a racist? Who knows? Right now though, the court of public opinion has him as a racist and this is what matters most since people remember more of what you did yesterday than what you've done your entire life. If we base racism off of Richard's entire life, it would appear that he could be sorry for what he said. If we base racism off of Richard's past few days, he would, indeed, be leveled a racist. Only time will tell in this case. However, time is not on Richard's side and he certainly has a lot of explaining to do in order to convince the public that he is, in fact, a victim of his own rage.

Get the hell out of here with all of your comments. Richards is sorry for what he did and is sorry for what he said. Even tho u only see part of the video, so u dont really have both sides of the story. You say white america rides michael jack, mike tyson, and kobe bryant. O yea we really ride people who molest little kids, who go around beating their wives and get out of their cars to hit ppl bc they got angry, or even better when u rape another woman. O yea we so get on you people bout doing such crimes that mean absolutely nothing. This man first off heckled him and said things to him in the first place. Dont u dare turn this whole thing around like he just went crazy and just starting saying obscenities just for the helll of it. Again it was wrong bc he is a professional and knows better. But he lost his nerve and popped. It is insane how the media has jumped on something like this like wildfire. If a black man said something to a white man in a comedy club, it is seen as a joke and nothing is taken from it. But how the hell do we know that what he said to a white man wasnt wat he meant. U never know because u r all hypocrites and feel as if u r always being brought down. It is a very impartial system in how you all view things. It is unfair to everyone involved.

This Michael Richards situation is really pissing me off. Why is everyone congratulating him on apologizing for being a racist??? Was that not the most insincere apology ever? When someone is a stand up comic, hecklers come with the territory--everyone knows that. He didn't need to take it to a "whole"...."nother".... "level"

The sad part is that I love the show "Seinfeld", and now I can't look at Kramer in the same way... :-(

I think a few of you are missing the point. Yes, many Black comedians have used racist jokes, however there was a punchline behind it. Richards did not have a punchline, his little pathetic self did not know how to handle someone saying "he was not funny", now if he would have said something like "your mama is not funny" or you are to dumb to know what's funny or not, it would have been more of a joke. The way he handled it, he took personally, and his personal feelings came out. One post stated Blacks are too sensitive, no he showed that he was too sensitive, to go off like that because someone states "you are not funny?" come on now people lets get real. They paid money to see him, 20 people in a group paying what $10-20 a piece with a 2 drink min. He lost his audience (whites, blacks, Hispanics) all walked out on him. These were young brothers just trying to have a good time, they didn't seem like thugs. He disrespected the right people, because if it was a different group of blacks they would have pulled his as* off of the stage and tried to pull his tongue out of his mouth!

I hope the 13 in your name is your age, that's the only way I would understand your point of view. If a black comedian said the opposite of what Richards said, it wouldn't even make the local fishing news in West Hollywood. They massacre whites on BET all the time.

What Richards said was indefensible. Who let it go easily? And another question- is Richards even white? I have no idea what his ancestry is.

Finally, Michael Jackson isn't black, Kobe Bryant raped a ***** when he was married and he knows it, and Mike Tyson is the most exciting boxer that ever lived. You are a nutcase.

There are a lot of black people who are far more racist than Richards. Bottom line is every race has racist people. Racism is ancient. The fact is that many blacks have said lots of things about whites and the media does nothing about it, like Kamau Kambon who called for the extermination of whites on CSPAN. Neverhteless,
Richards was way out of line.
