ok, so I was at dinner tonight with several of my partner's friends and their girlfriends/wives. we were discussing a possible trip to thailand and one of the men said something along the lines of "i want to go to [some part of thailand] so we can see some [insert ethnic group] people." myself and this person's wife are part of this ethnic group that was mentioned. i got offended and sorta ran off at the mouth about how that made us sound like zoo animals or something. his wife remained quiet, my boyfriend gave me the "shut up, you're doing it again" look, and the person responded that i was being too defensive and that i thought we were zoo animals if i said that and why would he mean that anyway if he was married to a [insert ethnic group] woman...

ok, i admit i overreacted, but i don't think my being offended was irrational. i mean, he could have said "i want to visit the [insert ethnic group] villages" or something like that. i mean, [ethnic group] are sitting right here! hello!!!

My brother-in-law takes my sister, who is a Catholic, to these skeptic meetings, in hopes of turning her around to his thinking. I read a meeting report, and all it said was being sarcastic towards "Your God", and such. Not much sense, but just saying that believers are not so smart, or at least as smart as they are. No real proof, nor must scientific evidence that there is no God, just mainly, when you die, you are dead. That, to me, is really depressing, and cold. Why do people go to these meetings to hear all this garbage? What happiness does one get from this depressing type of thinking. I think I will stay in my faith, thank you very much.

Almost anyone you ask would agree if you said that the actions of Hitler and the Nazis were evil and unjust. How then can we explain the fact that God CONDONED genocide in the Bible (Joshua and Judges) Also if God is just and fair to everyone as we believe, then why didn't he care about other ethnic groups in the old testament. He liked the Jews a lot but what about the people living in central america or ancient china in 1000 B.C. If God is fair than shouldn't he be fair to everyone?

ashamed at the fact that we call ourselves servants of God but dont really seem to be acting on it?

St. Augustine recognized in about A.D. 400 that the literal interpretation of the Genesis story of creation taking place over six days involved a theological error requiring reinterpretation. He realized that if the creative act of God brought time and space into being, then the act of creation of time could not be in time and the act of creation of space could not be in space, but must transcend them. Then by this logic, how would anyone interpret the Bible as saying creation happened 6000 years ago ?
