I guess we ask questions to ensure that our point of view is validated.
Maybe we don't really care what other people think? Maybe we already know that our belief is the perfect belief for ourselves and we are only here (on this yahoo site), to prove our point.
Obviously....I don't think that...but I don't think that other people think that either. Some people just insist on forgetting that God made everyone equally.

Most people are very closed minded, that's why there are so many debates about religion. And that's why people don't "digest" a differing opinion.
And yes, most of the questions are preconceived notions. I think the people that ask those types of questions are just seeing how much trouble they can stir up. (And a lot of people are tired of such questions...example: myself!)
I believe that people should learn as much as they can about every religion. That way they can actually make an informed, INTELLIGENT response to any questions asked of them.

Hi, I am Rational Spirituality,
I too noticed that, on this forum, the majority of people asking questions really seek a confirmation of their own views, and different views, however offered in best possible faith, are scorned and even treated with abuse.
Sad.
The way how I am interpreteing this is, that such people really lack the inner faith in what they subscribe to, and therefore need a cheering crowd to support them, else they may fall down.
I am of a different belief than the majority of contributors, although my belief grows by the hour, due to to sheer logic of its rational argument. But however well I try to explain things to people from one of the major "camps" they will always support an answer from another person from their own camp.
This forum is political, people want votes, not answers and even less, the truth.
It was interesting to see this recently in relation to a question about the Amish. I replied to it, and my question got three thumbs up. A "Christian" also replied, almost the same as me, but less, and his anwer was chosen as best and better than mine, by the "Christian" asker. I did not mind this in the least, but it amuses me what level of insecurity is leading people on this forum to be biased to this level of childishness.

Give this man a cigar!!! This is the best question I have seen for awhile and right to the point!
But the actual answer is already known by most and not admittable by the asker!

Good question.....
Maybe the asker is looking to find like minded people, or perhaps he's taking a poll?

I believe it is their freedom to do so. The consequence is whether they like the responses or not they fire the question. So I guess if they cannot digest peoples opinion then tough.

The question is designed to push an answer.
Then in some cases it's a cry for attention and affirmation for self worth.
