My brother-in-law takes my sister, who is a Catholic, to these skeptic meetings, in hopes of turning her around to his thinking. I read a meeting report, and all it said was being sarcastic towards "Your God", and such. Not much sense, but just saying that believers are not so smart, or at least as smart as they are. No real proof, nor must scientific evidence that there is no God, just mainly, when you die, you are dead. That, to me, is really depressing, and cold. Why do people go to these meetings to hear all this garbage? What happiness does one get from this depressing type of thinking. I think I will stay in my faith, thank you very much.

I can't prove there is a God, and you cannot prove you came from nothing. When I say nothing, I mean nothing, nada. Let's hear your proof that you popped out of nothing, no protons, no cells, no life whatsoever. You are not suppoed to answer with a question, or you get reported. Just a hint.

Yep, there are such meetings. Maybe it is a seminar. However, she said there was standing room only. They do have organizations to reinforce their negativity.

Skeptics usually have analytical minds and like to know that when 4 exists that 2+2=4 rather than accept that 4 just exists with out proof of how, why, or when. These people have evey right to believe whatever they like and are right in what they think because they base their thinking on fact and you can not deny fact. BUT The problem is that they can-not concede to the fact that some things exist that can not be mathematically or scientifically explained therefore they are skeptical. I feel sorry for septics because they miss out on so many beautiful things that exist in faith alone. It is a known proven fact that pray can improve the recovery rate of cancer patients. It is a proven fact that people can start fires by sheer will power, but it is not scientifically proven how it is done. The pyramids are a prime example, they exist but it is still not known how they were built. There is a time and place for every why, when, and where it is just not the time and place for us mere humans to be privy to the how yet. I think it is so exciting to sit back and watch it all, especially the septics who will be blown away when the truth is known [Whatever That Is]. I try to keep an open mind on eveything unless it is proven otherwise. Sceptic have a closed view....just have compassion for them.

Wow, I didn't know there were actually such things as skeptic's meetings...
Amazing!
Pray that your sister's faith is stong enough to withstand the beating she's taking at these things!
Why wouuld anyone want to go to such meetings, I wonder? Who thought such a thing up? Can any good possibly come from such a thing?
I am once again amazed at the depths humanity can sink to....

Can you prove that I have an Imaginary Dog by my side? Didn't think so. Who is the crazy one now?

Prove what you believe in. At least science gives us a better understanding as to why we are here than creationism, there are not gaps or denials of science. The opposite is true for religion.

Well.. it's really depends on how you look at it. If they put forth all those messages then perhaps you should be saying to yourself that you should know more about your religion to answer those questions. It can be inspiring but also depressing, but ultimately you have to choose which one you want to go for. In short, it's in your point of view that's important. Don't be hard on yourself. Keep your cool

I doubt if this is an actual question or if you really care about an answer.
