What Religion today does not use an old novel as you put it. I cannot think of a popular religion that doesn't have stories of suffering. Instead of choosing to attack one religion take time to look at the other religions in the world. Isn't it odd that almost every major religion celebrates 1 God. Isn't it more possible that all modern religions sprang forth from 1 long forgotten religion and over the centuries people have changed that original religion to fit the need of the people and cultures they belong to. I'm not saying that as fact but I will say that Christianity is not the only religion that follows an "old novel" as you put it. As for suffering yes there is quite a bit of that in the bible but the stories of suffering are there as a way to teach others. Sometimes the only way we learn is from the pains of the past.

Being a Christian won't exempt you from all the soreness, ailment, and hardships all and sundry is going by. that is going to furnish help to handle it. that's the reward we get in this international. The peace we've at dying is understanding we can quickly be with him, total and able to do greater beneficial than we've ever dreamed of. My mom has Alzheimer's now, after an entire life of being a good Christian and years of missionary service. the sorrowful factor is with this sickness is that she would not understand what's happening to her and would not have the potential to place it in God's hands and function peace. all of us understand that God is looking after her, regardless of if her ideas can not artwork.

Funny, I don't feel like a slave...
As a matter of fact, I feel totally free!
My faith doesn't glorify suffering, it just accepts it as a part of life, knowing that, ultimately, God is in control, and this life is just temporary anyhow.
That's peace.....

Yes of course they are and it's a fairy story for the simple minded as the responses to your quesion proves.

It's all suffering, hellfire and brimstone, behave or you'll go to hell, anything fun is the work of the devil, freethinking is evil as is creativity,,,, the list is endless.

Nothing wrong with Jesus, but institutionalised power has taken his life, written the bible and used it to control people - extremely effectively for 2 thousand years.
