In England, some of the less well orf or unlucky people (my home burnt down and it wasn't insured) have to live in rented accomodation.

Do you find the attitude of landlords so unpleasant and dictatorial that it makes your life a continual misery? This is especially Housing Association, Councils and private landlords which does not leave much else.

Apart from the greed of private landlords, the Housing Associations use their unaccountable power to gang up on people they don't like and the Councils engage in political manipulation against their enemies (or to hide their incompetence). .

The truth is I never used to believe in god, but recently the more I look around, the harder I find it to discredit God in the creation of us and our surroundings. Furthermore, I find it increasingly harder to describe God in words. Please help. p.s. This is just ut of interset

Ok so lately I've been having this impending feeling that life is temporary and I might lose someone I love or die and never see them again -ever- and the thought is really depressing me.
I used to believe in god but I grew away from that a while ago and I've tried to go back to my ignorance but it's failed because I simply can't convince myself or have anyone convince me. Especially since I wrote it all off as false and now reading about the religions faults makes it worse.
Existentialism keeps coming up and it's seems like the accepted logical way in the scientific community and it's driving me insane because I am getting anxious and at the same time I really don't want to get used to the anxiety and accept the fact that I might never see my mom or dad or boyfriend again if they died today.
So is there any other theory out there that hasn't been put down yet and seems pretty reasonable? I'm just wondering at all if there's any room for the afterlife in the modern scientific world?

How many times do people say they,"I'll pray for you." and then go home to their cosey little lifestyle and never lift a finger to help a person out? Isn't that kind of a poor way to promote Christianity?

I have a travel website and decided to translate my "hotels page" in various languages.
But I can't afford paying translators and the free online translation do not seem to be that good.
The page I want to translate is http://www.traveltoathens.eu/hotels/english/
For a native speaker of each language it is only a matter of 3-4 minutes to translate it. Could you help me and translate it into your language?
Here is the text, or you can check it by visiting the site...

Contention:
Reminiscent of old theocracies of Christianity and Islam,
if the legacy that epitomizes Theocracies lie in Crusades and Jihads;
if money politics and self determination represent today’s governments;
Would the lesser of the two prone to wars and provocation,
Necessarily validate (or invalidate) secular governance over theocracies ?

What’s your take (either way)? Read well.

I would take my rugby club to Australia and New Zealand for the rest of the Tri Nations tournament 1st class all the way (and obviously pay off all the wives, girlfriends and employers who'd object)

Sorry I'm asking this twice, but I would love to get an opinion from the Amercians on this one if I could.

Hello all. Little problem (again) with my parents, though it left me more confused than anything...I'm 26, with a hubby and nearly 11 month old son. For Halloween, we dressed up our son as a 60's peace activist, as we found some cool grungy camo trousers, a linen shirt and a khaki overshirt in the bargain bin at the Baby Gap. We made a little sign saying "Make Cookies, Not War!" as a funny joke and took him trick or treating with the neighbours and their kids. Everyone thought he was cute, and our 80 something year old neighbour loved it, and gave him a hug and a tangerine.

Yesterday, I sent the pics to my mom and dad and family as I do to keep them in the loop of our lives as I am an American living in Scotland. I got an email from my dad this morning saying that he was offended by our costume and pretty much said, live your life keep us out of it. I fail to understand

I hear this word thrown around in a religious context, but I have no idea what it means. Are wiccans witches? Am I way off and it's only a kind of furniture that appears to be made out of sticks?

Come now, the world is drowning in 'political correctness'. I was brought up by the leather belt, and trust me, when other kids were out smoking / shoplifting / theiving push-bikes, I was right there!!! No I'm kidding, the fear of that belt, kept me well clear of that sort of thing.

But many around me did not have a 'father figure' to prevent such idle acts of vandelism and theft, so maybe it was a good thing???

Oh, and if you knew you were 'in for it', life was hell.

So if I have kids, I think they 'won't sit down for a week' if I catch them up to no good. I trust there may be many who disagree with me.

... but I'd like to know from those who had physical punishment - did it stop you getting up to crazy stuff?

I never smoke, got wailed for drinking at 14yrs once, and attended school everyday, (except for two times).

So it must be a good thing, right?

There are so many people where I work who will do this: They will call me over to have a conversation with me, then, as soon as they notice somebody else walking by, they just leave me standing there to go over and talk with the other person. Why do these people have no idea of how insulting and rude this is? Are they just egocentric idiots who should be avoided at all costs?

Have you seen a gayperson that you absolutely could not believe was gay, like his being gay was like impossible and incomprehensible because he didn't act gay and looked like he was definitely straight (he must be and is straight)? It's like this gayperson seemed to be, and is, an average-looking, normal, regular, heterosexual everyday kind of guy. I saw two guys like that speak at a conference about allowing lesbians and gaypeople in the military. I still think those two guys aren't really gay. They didn't seem like the type. All gaypeople are (or, at least, catergorized) as effeminate, flamboyant queens who speak with a lisp and have limp wrists. No way in hell could those guys be gay. They can't be! They would have to be straight! They didn't look gay (heterosexually gay, that is). They didn't act gay. They didn't talk or speak in a gay manner. UNBELIEVABLE! These guys were unbelievably very masculine, heterosexually masculine. It blows the mind! They couldn't be gay.

I have time for most people. Black, white, gay, straight or Australian but I cannot and will not put up with stupid people.
Does this make me a bad person?

Apparently "prince" Charles- (whom God has appointed to reign over us) - and Camilla are touring Pakistan and , in a frenzy of "multiculturalism", they visited a mosque. Usually their antics bore me, but I'm interested in the "appropriate" dress that Queen Camilla would wear whilst visiting this mosque. Does anyone know how she was dressed?

Did you get stuck in that whole feminist movement thingy back in the 80's and end up going to college and then getting a career. While doing that for about 10 or more years - did you lose your sex appeal and now find yourself with plenty of money but no family or kids to care for? Do you have regrets and wished you had just done the course your Mom and Dad had taken? If not you, do you know any woman living the predictament I describe? Thanks for sharing
