How do Christians know their bible is accurate?

I love the guy above who proves the Bible is accurate by quoting... the Bible! Come on man, you say that elements in the New Testament are fulfilments of prophecies in Old Testament. Leaving aside the dodgy nature of some of these prophecies - the "born of a virgin" in Isaiah is a well-known mistranslation - surely you must at least accept the possibility that the NT was written *so that it fitted in with these prophecies*!

The Bible is accurate. The world itself is split into two BC and AD.The birth of Christ is a history. not a fiction. The things happened in the Bible priod have been proven by history. All historical events are mentioned in the Bible. And the prophecies told in the Bibile are happening now and in future also.The earth quakes , changes in the stars sun and moon are happening more.The wars are also haooening. About the jews and the wars are all in the Bible. Not just like somebody"s story. It is HISTORY. and it is accurate.

I met with Jesus about 4 years ago, so I started from the first point which is knowing Jesus is alive. After that, I looked at other faiths and evidence for Jesus and christianity (did an alpha course and online searches) and decided that there was not enough evidence against it to ruin my faith. If God is who he says he is, then he is truth, and the bible is his word.

As a Christian I know the Holy Bible is inaccurate. It has been translated many times and all without computer assistance. It cannot be accurate. It is simply a guide to life. Not a rule book.

The rational answer to your question is that most of the bible is fiction written hundreds of years after the stories they tell. Add to this the numerous edits and changes made over the centuries since and you have the biggest fabrication of the truth in history.

It saddens me to see some of the irrational beliefs in the answers to this question.
