Ok so lately I've been having this impending feeling that life is temporary and I might lose someone I love or die and never see them again -ever- and the thought is really depressing me.
I used to believe in god but I grew away from that a while ago and I've tried to go back to my ignorance but it's failed because I simply can't convince myself or have anyone convince me. Especially since I wrote it all off as false and now reading about the religions faults makes it worse.
Existentialism keeps coming up and it's seems like the accepted logical way in the scientific community and it's driving me insane because I am getting anxious and at the same time I really don't want to get used to the anxiety and accept the fact that I might never see my mom or dad or boyfriend again if they died today.
So is there any other theory out there that hasn't been put down yet and seems pretty reasonable? I'm just wondering at all if there's any room for the afterlife in the modern scientific world?

I'd really look into Buddhism. It's not at all necessary to jump into the whole thing, reincarnation and all that, but so far as religious philosophy, they've done pretty well by science. The Dalai Lama has written an excellent book on the harmony between Buddhism and science, The Universe in a Single Atom. Whether you choose to go any further or not, it's a nice way to check it out.

I'd also check out Amit Goswabi's The Self-Aware Universe. It's an interesting look at the current scientific frontiers of quantum physics, string theory, etc. and how suddenly we have reached a point where science does not preclude religion, but instead we have ideas on how the two can be bridged.

Friend, you said that you got away from Believeing, & you try to come back but with no success, All you have to do is ask God to Forgive you from all your sins through Jesus Christ & start living for God again, Salvation is not based on feelings all the time, But on Faith, Even when satan trys our mind with doubt, we can then just wait upon God to bring us through, Yes there is a afterlife, A scientiful world has nothing to do about God's plan of salvation, Jesus is still on the mercy seat. Good Luck Friend

existentialism does not preclude adopting any theory of afterlife. it merely accepts that lifes purpose is shrouded in mystery and unprovable so it gives you the responsibility to CHOOSE what to believe. this is what is called being "doomed to be free".
there being no provable purpose we are all free to invent our own. Choosing a God and a reward system is just as good a theory as any and has just as much validity as any other. In fact to NOT choose is weak and wishy washy.
Existentialists are never wishy washy. it is a bold philosophy and takes courage. so go ahead and believe in the afterlife in any way you choose until it is proven otherwise. You are not only entitled to do so but REQUIRED to do so by existentialism.
