.....why do we get offended by a scarf worn on the head for the sake of modesty by muslims but we have no problem with western women doing exactly the same thing out of modesty after surviving cancer out of sheer vanity?

My girlfriend is a nurse and has dealt with several male patients who have had a prolapse as a result of having regular anal sex. They will have to wear nappies for the rest of their lives.
Do you think this is mother nature saying that gay sex is wrong or is it a risk worth taking for a bit of bum fun?

Please note that I am merely asking a question and not stating my opinion.

Reading the Bible is the fastest way out of believing in god.

Athiesim tends to come through STUDY and THOUGHT, rather than a BLIND BELIEF system.

Atheists question what they don't understand, instead of blindly following others like sheep.

Atheists came to their conclusions after reading the bible. Most atheists just want to know the truth, so they read. Religious people aren't interested in the truth, they want security, so they'll just blindly trumpet whatever their pastor/preacher tells them. And when they do read the bible, they don't actual interpret the words, they just mindlessly read the words without contemplating what they mean

Us Atheists actually take time to research our beliefs instead of allowing someone in a church or anywhere else to tell us what to believe

most christians are only told about the happy fluffy benevolent god. Whilst us atheists have looked at it ourselves and seen god for what he relay is a violent, racist, sexist, petty, jealou

My guess would be that a newly renowned straight guy coming out of a gay relationship is extremely impossible to say the least. UNPHATHOMABLE!

I smoked a bit when I was younger. I gave up smoking to have kids and all that. Now here I am reminiscing about how relaxed I DID feel when I lit up a smoke AND SMOKED IT!!!! Shock horror!!!!!
Although smoke packets have pics of grease filled fatty deposits seeping out of veins on them... People around me who smoke are the ones that: have fun, have full time jobs, career success, beautiful healthy children, bodies, tans and personalities to kill for, popularity, friendliness, upcoming weddings, engagements etc...
I went to a party recently - first time in ages since having three kids. Didn't have a thing to talk about... Didn't have a cigarette AND - I didn't fit in. My smoking friends- with or without kids/ careers/ lovers etc who smoked - were actually having a ball - even if just standing there in their smoking circle/tribe just relaxing- They were just plain comfortable and in tune with all going on... I wanted a smoke there and then. Smoking IS bad , but GOOD for you too - WHY?

If it's logical to think complex things need a creator, does that mean god has a creator? Or is he more simple than a bacteria?

It is laziness to simply say "God created it that way." No one can prove or disprove that God exists, but with science and reason, we can figure out just about anything else given enough time.

Prove god exists. Don't show me a book or a church or a blooming tree - show me proof. Most complex creations on the earth can be explained and proven by science. It will just take more time and research to scientifically prove everything. Think of how scary and uninformed people were 100 years ago. They needed something to explain the unexplainable - but today we have real answers. Don't follow in your ancestors footsteps and be pulled around by your nose.

Atheists tend to study their beliefs, other's beliefs, and the nature of belief in general. They also tend to be more versed in science and how the world actually works. That's why their deconv

The entirely unearthly Mithras was worshipped as the "Good Shepherd", "the Way, the Truth and the Light", and as a redeemer, saviour and Messiah. Mithras was supposed to have been born to a virgin on what is now 25 December, and was visited by shepherds and Magi. He travelled and taught, cast out devils, made miracle cures, held a last supper, was killed, buried in a rock tomb and rose again after three days, at the time of the spring equinox in March (equivalent to the Christian Easter). Mithraism included baptism and Sunday worship, with a Eucharist and sacraments.

Mithra's birth was witnessed by shepherds and by Magi bearing gifts to his sacred birth-cave of the Rock (J. Smith 146). Mithra's image was buried in a rock tomb, a sacred cave that represented his Mother's womb. This was ritualistically removed each year, and he was said to live again. Mithra's triumph and ascension to heaven were celebrated during the spring equinox.

The similarities are striking.

eg. dogma, cult of personality, belief in a certain one true path, intolerance of other systems, obligation to tow the "party line" etc

Could communism, facism etc be considered as religions in themselves ?

Or at least could they be considered a very close cousin to religion ?

I ask this because many theists attempt to show the "evilness" of atheism by saying communist russia was atheist.

While thinking about this I wondered if in fact religion had more in common with communism and facism.
