Reading the Bible is the fastest way out of believing in god.

Athiesim tends to come through STUDY and THOUGHT, rather than a BLIND BELIEF system.

Atheists question what they don't understand, instead of blindly following others like sheep.

Atheists came to their conclusions after reading the bible. Most atheists just want to know the truth, so they read. Religious people aren't interested in the truth, they want security, so they'll just blindly trumpet whatever their pastor/preacher tells them. The Bible comment: before you accept Jesus as Lord and Saviour of your life, you do not have the help of the Holy Spirit who gives you understanding of God's Word, therefore not much makes sense to you. It was like that for me too before I gave my heart to Him.

Athiesim tends to come through STUDY and THOUGHT, rather than a BLIND BELIEF system - we Christians do not become Christians through BLIND BELIEF. Remember that EVERY single Christian comes to a point in their lives when they make the commitment to Jesus Christ. Before that, we are a lot like you and think a lot like you too.

Atheists question what they don't understand, instead of blindly following others like sheep - Christians are highly intelligent too and dont blindly follow others - in fact, God's Word (Bible) warns us not to.

Atheists came to their conclusions after reading the bible. Most atheists just want to know the truth, so they read. Religious people aren't interested in the truth, they want security, so they'll just blindly trumpet whatever their pastor/preacher tells them. And when they do read the bible, they don't actual interpret the words, they just mindlessly read the words without contemplating what they mean - a ludicrous statement I won't do the dignity of commenting on.

Us Atheists actually take time to research our beliefs instead of allowing someone in a church or anywhere else to tell us what to believe - us Christians have a very real, very personalised meeting with Jesus Christ Himself. It is ONLY through this that we give our hearts to Him, otherwise we think exactly the way you do. The difference between us and you is simply grace and the KNOWLEDGE that God gives to us when we commit our lives to Him.

most christians are only told about the happy fluffy benevolent god. Whilst us atheists have looked at it ourselves and seen god for what he relay is a violent, racist, sexist, petty, jealous - I do NOT believe God is a fluffy teddy bear. I also KNOW that I KNOW God and YOU dont.

Humble yourself. Truly seek Him and He WILL be found by you, but first, get rid of your self arrogance.

No, I can't agree with this statement.

Unless the author of this statement can prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that he can account for all atheism in the entire world, this is just bold and foolish propaganda.

He assumes that no Christians have read the bible and that all Atheists would actually invest time in a text that is considered fiction by the very core of it's belief.

Let's take the last line in this statement. The Author speaks of God as an accountable person, in such lending credibility to His existence. Not something a true atheist does. Anti-christian, maybe. But not atheist.

John Kerry? Is that you? Are you saying that millions of people around the world are idiots? Are those dying in other countries because of their beliefs really that stupid? I think that they are well aware of the fact that all they have to do is deny Jesus and they will be left alone.... But they don't.

Believe me. I questioned my religion from the beginning. It was ok when I was little. I was able to handle the responses I got because I was taught to respect my elders. As I got older, I felt insulted by the answers I got. I saught after the truth, slid away from my faith (because that's what I thought I had to do), and boy I thought that I knew everything. At least, I was on my way to knowing everything. As I was learning, I started to ask the "experts" on the other side, about evolution and such, questions that just didn't jive with me. Not that I didn't understand the material, but it just didn't seem true. Then, God's word smacked me right in my face. That in combination of prayer from others and action from others. I was finally pointed in the right direction by those "blind believers".
Now I realize. I wish that I could just "blindly" believe. I consider that a gift. But I don't. I feel like I have to know how it works. I just want to know so much.
Here's the point: If you seek God/truth with all your mind, heart, and soul, He will reveal Himself.

oh.. and God is love (this happy benevolency that you speak of), but He is also just. I think that is what YOU should consider. For we ALL deserve Hell (that place of punishment for law breakers), but only some will go. You see, I DESERVE the same punishment as you, but someone paid our fine so we don't have to go. All you have to do is accept it. You don't have to "blindly" believe. Seek it out for yourself and it will be very clear.
Consider this: If you are right- we both rot in the ground. If you are wrong- you'll burn in Hell. You've been lied to friend. You know it deep down in your conscience, the place of true knowledge (con=with, science=knowledge). Keep seeking truth. You'll find it. If you make up your own truth. You'll find that too. Which is correct? The real truth or the one you make up.

Ever actually study and think about the Bible? I highly doubt it. Most atheists that I know have never read the Bible.

Most Christians do what they do because the Bible tells them, not because a pastor/preacher tells them.

Stop being condescending to Christians.

Well, you've kinda got a point there.

I believed in god until the age of 14 when I switched from regular public school to catholic school, and I had my first real taste of the bible. Once I started reading and going to mass, I realized I didn't believe one bit of it. Now I think the bible is just a bunch of stories that were passed down from thousands of years ago and embellished a lot along the way.

The reason there are atheists is because they have had some kind of disillusionment and disappointment in their life. If you have ever picked up a Bible and read one God said He was a jealous God, as for the rest that's just man adding to it, like always. I don't call it blind belief, I call it having faith. Faith in my Lord Jesus Christ, you might try it.

whilst us atheist have looked at ourselves and seen god for what he really is a violent, racist, sexist, petty, jealous? anyways that whole sentence doesn't really make any sense, us atheist don't believe in god, notice how the first person to say something out of spite to you was a person with religion and god in their life? you'll hardly ever hear a atheist curse out to you saying "Your going to burn in hell for that!" and also I don't know of to many atheist that have read the bible either, anyways have a good day

Isn't knowledge a good tool? Most atheists use science as their forum. I on the other hand tend to question only what is rel event to my of life and the way in which I choose to live my life.
