God is neither male or female. God is referred to as He as the male gender is generally thought of as dominant in society. The Holy Qur'an never refers to God as He or She until you read a translation. Translations are never 100% accurate.

Maybe God was called "he" because the priests & religious leaders were men and they couldn't imagine God being "she".
However, they may not have thought of God as literally male, requiring a female counterpart.
There is a long tradition of "human-like" gods, male and female, in myth & legend and this is really a metaphor for the human condition.
And there is also the concept of God - like the sun - being a power rather than a being, so neither a he or she.
Spirituality is an individual relationship with the unknown.
You have to believe what is right for you.

i believe God to be an energy .. a higher being ... higher spirit
yes
i dont feel we need to put a gender on God other than to give him/her a gender in the same way as the french do with basic words
everything has a gender in that sense
a car is usually called she by their drivers
i dont feel it should be frowned upon if someone chooses to call God she

for some reason, people think god has a gender....thats just ridiculous. when god first talked to man, or when the stories were first told, society was very patriarchal, so of course the creator of the univers, the most powerful and pervasive "being", the "entity" in charge had to be male. and anytime you say anything other than the accepted norm, youll always be frowned upon

You have it backwards it is like saying someone looks like their child. It is the child that looks like the parent. God was not made in man's image, man was made in the image of God, so men are 'he" because God is 'He". Women were created from men so if you call God a 'she' then you make God a created being and not God.
Whast is wrong with calling God "He', that is what the Bible does?

God is the Supreme Spirit. He has a feminine aspect also. This is His personified pleasure potency.

God is an immortal being and, like when talking about Man it doesn't literally mean "man". God is neither He or She, we cannot see him, hear him, touch him or feel him, but we can feel and believe him in our own hearts and that is what our faith relys us to do.
