I mean seriously, why is it such a big deal any ways? They already living together and having sex. What's the difference if they have a piece of paper with their signatures proving their commitment to each other?

I live in a 4 family house and I have a washer and dryer in the basement which I purchased. There is this creepy guy who lives in a one room illegal apartment down there and he keeps using them. Right now I hear my washer spinning. Last week I found a crack pipe in my dryer. I call the landlord and he says "work it out among yourselves". I pay extra rent to have this washer and dryer and my husband did the work to get the hook-up down there so we could have them. He has skanky girlfriends that are also using them. Sometimes they leave their clothes in my dryer. I have written this guy letters and spoke to him but he still does it. My husband does nothing as he is a "recovering alcoholic with 13 years of sobriety" and has taken this forgiveness thing a little too far. I don't want to wash my baby's clothes down there after I find drug paraphanalia in them. Landlord does nothing & my husband who is built like a linebacker & could scare this jerk does nothing.

It’s amazing to think how the Earth from being so inhospitable to life became such an organized, civilized and nice place to live at. We established countries so we can live a better life: secure, bountiful and free. We have the responsibility for it, for our countrymen and everything in it. Very noble indeed, but is it right to just limit our minds within the frontiers of our own country? Why not instead of just caring for your countrymen, care for everyone?
Many countries already took initiative in making this dream come true. One very good example is the UNITED NATIONS which aims at facilitating co-operation in international law, international security, economic development, and social equity. .......................

Then why does religion try to scare people ( and especially children ) about 'burning in the fires of hell? if on the one hand as we are told,we are free for evermore of pain when we are a soul,then what is there to fear from burning in hell.WE WON'T FEEL IT according to that doctrine,so whats the point in scaring people into believing they will?I'd like it explained how something that has no nerves,skin,cells or anything else 'human',in the earthly sense,feels pain in ANY way.
Please no quotes from the bible.I'd like peoples OWN perceptions for a change.

I usually drive to get to my boyfiriend robis house, but once in a while he picks me up, and at night he expects me to drive his car home, so that he doesnt have to drive.
He is wonderful, but this is annoying, because its only 10 mins drive and Im back and forth all the time! Gimme a break! What do you think?

I found out that my best friend since childhood and my husband of 10 years were having an affair for a year. I had my suspicions, but they always said nothing is going on. I told myself they'd have to get caught first before they would admit anything. Well I finally caught them.

I beat up my so called 'best friend' and now is threatening me that she'll call the cops and charge me for assault. I was wondering, what does the government do for the wife who is has been emtional hurt by all this? Nothing? I get charged for assault while she goes free for being a b*tch? My husband is another matter.

Let me belie my atheist underpinnings for a moment and suppose there is indeed a god. Is it more likely that god is this bearded white man, akin to Zeus, holding holy court over the universe, keeping infinite lists of the rights and wrongs of all human beings who've ever existed, or is it more likely that god is something else? Like a force or an element or some type of being our minds are just not advanced enough to conceive?

As I stated I don't believe in any sort of higher power, but I am curious about how others come to terms with this notion of god...

This is kind of a spring off question...to a question I just answered...the question was posed as this...If the nazi were to come back today only they were going after people of your religion...would you deny your religion?? A lady answered that she would lie to save the lives of her children...so I am wondering, how many other people in 2006 feel this way? (I have no children...so I am curious)
