Yes, although instead of 'dumbass' I tend to use a Czech word (which for some reason I cannot write here as we are forbidden to use any foreign words)!
But it's very true:
The more you learn, the more you realise that you don't know. (I'm quoting.)

I share your sentiments. I am pretty smart too, but yeah..sometimes I wish I could give myself a big kick in the rear! That's usually when I realize I had done something dumb and should not have.
Like one time I saw a co-worker in the elevator lobby and I said "so when is the baby due" and she replied calmly "I'm not pregnant". Imagine we rode the elevator down in silence...of course my foot was sticking out my mouth :) . She was just a bit heavy and had a bit of fat in the tummy area that I took for pregnancy...talk about a dumbass? Yeah that was my all-star moment!

Others usually think of me as pretty smart, but I can be a real dumbass at times. More than most people catch me at.

The only time I ever feel "smart" is when I am fully aware of what a dumbass I am.

I think you're smart if you're aware that at times you're a dumbass. It's only a true dumbass that thinks they are always smart.

Sometimes in retrospect, I see where I've been a dumbass. But never while it's happening.

A pastor once told me, "If man were capable of being prefect, there would be no reason for Jesus Christ and I would be out of a job!" After hearing this, I quit beating myself up over mistakes and things I am not capable of doing for one reason or another. We all have our strengths and weaknesses, that is why we unconciously seek out a partner who is strong in areas where we are weak, together they make a powerful couple.

I have said for years that stupidity should be painful (you know, like putting shock-collars on people that jolt them every time they pull a dumb@$$ maneuver), but the problem is I'd probably spend a good part of my life in pain...

There will always be somebody smarter, prettier, better behaved, or more street savey then anyone else around. The best way to deal with this is to show humility because what counts is what our friends think socially, not what we think individually.

I can totally relate. In certain things, I feel dumb and useless. I have ADD and a pretty high IQ, so I think this inconsistency comes with the territory.
