I think parents do teach their children to love but there maybe different interpretations of it depending on the child and parent relationship. But as a parent I think it is also necessary to teach your children to survive in society today because not everyone is going to treat you like your parent (s) do or your guardian in a lot of cases. Children these days see so much and they may develop their own defenses according to what they have witnessed or gone through for themselves and the love or nurturing may get sheltered by survival skills. I love my children more than I can put into words but I also want them to understand when I am not around you will see, hear, and experience things, so be cautious and don't just jump into a situation you are leery about and go with your first mind and always look out for yourself and the ones you hold dear to you but don't misuse people and treat them bad. Treat people how you want to be treated.

They are trying but we are facing more pressure from the nuts and the TV and the radical left. Everything that was in the norm is out and all the fringe groups are trying to get in. Why teach morals, ethics, what is right. You might tell someone there religion is wrong. You have no problem doing it here to the faithful. BTW I don't care I tell my church the truth. The Gospels and If you don't like it LEAVE. WE want time to teach our children in peace.

Many parents did not learn love as a child - so they can not teach their children something they have never experience themselves!@

You'd be hardpressed to find anyone who isn't teaching their children to love something. I think your question may have more to do with teaching their child tolerance. And in that case, it probably has more to do with them believing that tolerating certain things is wrong.

The Bible and the Qu'ran for example say being gay is wrong. So many who believe in the Bible or the Qu'ran as being God's word would be against anything seen as homosexual and against tolerating anyone who does accept it. So it then appears they hate the person as well as the act (and oftentimes they do hate both and not just the act) and so it appears they don't love all as they are supposed to love all.

We must all learn that while some people may do things we see as wrong (whether it is wrong or not we each have to decide for ourselves, but I reference things that we have already decided are wrong) we must love the person even while hating the act. This will show tolerance and understanding that may wind up convincing them to change their ways, and even if it doesn't we'll be good people anyway and not throw away our good because we dislike what they do.

Probably because most of the people do not even know what is love. In today's world the center, God, is lost. Atheism has become prominent. Everybody is selfish. God is meant to be the center, but we are putting ourselves in the center. Nobody knows what real love is. So how can we teach others, if we do not know ourselves? Real love is only possible on spiritual platform, when we love God and love everyone in relationship with God, when we are free from envy for God and for other living beings.

We are required by society for both parents to work in order that we can survive above poverty level, that leaves less time for parents to spend teaching their children, let alone seek to understand the true meaning of love itself. Love is a simple lesson. If you love someone, you put their needs above your own, you don't steal from them, you don't cheat on them sexually, see the rest of the Ten Commandments for further instruction. It is not religion, but faith and prayer where you will find the answers you seek. :)

One must be able to love in order to teach others how to love.

Most people don't know what love is anymore. This world is steadily declining as far as Christianity is concerned. It's gonna be a sad day when God comes to judge us.

Get right people. I love you and God loves you. Let's not make Hell your final home.

Why? here is why:

2Ti 3:1 ¶ This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.

2Ti 3:2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

2Ti 3:3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,

2Ti 3:4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;

2Ti 3:5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

2Ti 3:6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,

2Ti 3:7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
