If you have something that is 90% good and 10% bad, should you focus on the good and loving the situation you are in or the bad and improving the situation that you are in? Doesn't it make sense that people who focus on improving the bad get further in life and become more successful and people who focus on the good just become complacent? However, who wants to focus on negative all the time... that would be a sad.

A close family member has always been more emotional, sensitive, and easily offended than the rest us. At age 23, she had a bizarre episode and basically became catatonic. Not sure what to do, we rushed her to the ER. She came out of her catatonia, but still acted very strange (uncooperative, inconsolable, frantic). The docs did a complete neurological exam but couldn't find anything. This person eventually goes back to being normal.

The same catatonic episode (with erratic behavior) recurs 18 months later, and again the docs don't know what is wrong.

The same thing happens 4 months later, and a month after that.

A year later, this person has an exremely disturbing episode where she is absolutely wild, cannot stop moving, cannot stop talking, talks about things that don't make sense, talks about how all her problems are other people's fault.

This behavior returns 3 weeks later.

Doctors have not been able to give a diagnosis, so what's wrong?

I need to develop a fake program I could implement in a school for my ed. research class that can help lower the achievement gap between these two races. How could I do this without singling out one particular group? Could I pick a class...give a test...see the difference btwn the two...give the test again after implementing my program...and then compare the scores to see if the gap has shifted?

What would drive another to purposely try to make a person go crazy? Assuming you overheard it with your own ears. Assuming you know it to be true... Someone is trying to hurt you by making you go crazy, for instance doing something and pretending it never happened, playing mind games, trying to make you believe you are crazy.. what is the purpose of this?

I hear that getting into doctoral programs is a lot easier at private universities than public. At my current university, there is about a 94% rejection rate for all psychology doctoral programs and it is a public university. Would it be a similar situation at other public university or at private universities, such as Capella University or Argosy University?

What happens when you wish you could redo something? What happens when you start to regret a decision you made?

I want nothing more than to go back just over a year ago and change every decision I made.

I'm miserable at work. I'm miserable at home. I don't even want to look at my husband anymore, and we've only been married 8 months. I sleep all the time because I don't want to wake up and face another day. I'm too chicken to end my life.

This is not at all what I wanted for my life. So what the **** do I do to make it better? What's wrong with me?

I'm obsessed with my ex-boyfriend, and I understand why. It's because I've never had a male figure in my life to understand me so well the way he did. I had an abusive father and because of it I grew up shy, depressive and antisocial. I now understand me thoroughly. But how do I help myself, I broke up with my boyfriend 3 years ago and I'm still dwelling over him. I didn't treat him well which is why he left me. I feel no one else is going to love me unconditionally the way he did, without judging me. Please how do I give myself counseling?

I am watching MTV (don't hate, sometimes they're very informative) True Life on stuttering. A couple of young people like myself have these stuttering problems and it's so heartbreaking! I couldn't help but get teary-eyed when I saw a beauty pageant contestant with that problem.

I am a psych major at UCLA and graduating in June and I have NEVER heard of a condition like this. I admit I do stutter once in a while when I am nervous, but it's just common for most people during nervous situations.

It's really sad that stuttering can be made as a joke sometimes, but people don't understand that it is a condition, not always a once in a while occurrence.

My question is this. Is this something neurological? Maybe some part of the lobe related to speech is damaged? Or is it in the chords? Maybe something in the brain that allows you to think of what you're going to say, but it doesn't come out right?

I just want to give these people a hug! I feel so motivated to do something about it.
