what does it mean if someone asks you out jokingly? Are they making fun of you or are they just wanting a reaction?

They could be fishing to see if you'd really go out with them.
Some people say things in jest, hoping they'd get the answer they're looking for.

They could be playing a joke, not sure if you would respond positively or uncomfortable asking you out.
