For instance, could you slowly change yourself from an introvert to an exovert, more charming, etc and actually ingrain it into your personality? If so, how can someone go about doing this?

I'm an 18 year old male. I'm usually always home and feel so embarassed about it. Sometimes I feel like going out, but most of the time I don't. I think I may have clinical depression, but I'm not sure. I've been an introvert all my life, but living in the middle of nowhere has gotten me used to being alone. Don't tell me to join any groups or anything cuz I won't. I should get a job, but I have applied to over 5 places like a month ago and haven't heard from them since.

My theory is because girls have more of a tendency to "care." Girls "care" more because they have the natural instinct to "care" for children..... If anyone could tell me a better theory or explanation, that would be cool. I don't need to do this for school or anything. It just came up out of my own curiosity.

A couple of examples from me:
Putting petrol in the car - nothing to do with the cost
Making my packed lunch, to take to work
Washing my hair and many more besides!!

What tasks do you find necessary but very tiresome?

I was dating a man who was a recovering alcoholic - who early on told me he was falling in love with me, but wasn't ready - he felt he had nothing to offer me, and that I was at a level within myself that he was not even close to and that intimidated him. I didn't listen. We ended up involved and both fell in love with each other - He started to get closer when we got physical, but he had a relapse and started drinking again. He came to me through struggles with sobriety, reaching out to me and not the people he should have and relapsed. After ending up in the hospital and maintaining sobriety again, he pushed me away because he wasn't able to commit to an emotional relationship. Do you think that men who are "unable to emotionally commit" are like this to any woman who comes in their life or if its no

Please contribute to this idea by suggesting what one or more of the steps might be. (Just to be politically correct, leave "God" out of it.) Oh, and I, of course, prefer funny!! I'll start:

Make a list of all persons you've flamed or trolled and be willing to send money to bribe them into forgiving you.

What does it mean. It looks very strange and it is definitely not a disability. His eye balls seem to also roll upwards when he is talking and blinking. He has always done this and I find it very irritating. Does anyone know what this is, please? What causes it. In body language terms it usually means that the person is being dishonest, but this isn't the case. It seems more to be a habit than anything else. Is there a name for it and a cure?

Okay. I'm ready for some silly answers here. The funny ones will be okay but I still want some sensible ones please. I'm really interested to know why some people do this when it is definitely not a disability or a kind of twitch because it doesn't come across like that. Anyone medically-minded might know?

Do they realize just how much pain and suffering some people go through? Just because their own lifes are so fantastic they become narrow-minded and have the empathy of a kid with autism?

The most important thing: IT'S THEIR OWN LIFE therefore it should be their right, it would be different if they were to blow themselfs up and take several others with them.

I think this was a Freudian theory..trust Freud. I personally have never met a girl who envied a man's penis. I did hear a story in nursing however about a little girl that cut off her brothers penis. The father on rushing his son to hospital nocked the little girl down. Probably an urban myth.

The above quote is attributed to Marshall McLuhan. I came across it while studying some of his other work. I guess I may not understand it for a couple of reasons but I was wondering if anyone might understand what he may have meant by this.

Thank you for any insights into this puzzling quote.
