What does it mean. It looks very strange and it is definitely not a disability. His eye balls seem to also roll upwards when he is talking and blinking. He has always done this and I find it very irritating. Does anyone know what this is, please? What causes it. In body language terms it usually means that the person is being dishonest, but this isn't the case. It seems more to be a habit than anything else. Is there a name for it and a cure?

Okay. I'm ready for some silly answers here. The funny ones will be okay but I still want some sensible ones please. I'm really interested to know why some people do this when it is definitely not a disability or a kind of twitch because it doesn't come across like that. Anyone medically-minded might know?

I would guess it to be a gesture of discomfort. Either they are afraid of confrontation, or they are lying when they are speaking.

Well if you had of said when YOU are talking to THEM i would say nervous cos i do that sometimes, but you didn't lol.
The question is about them talking to you and blinking rapidly when they are talking... I don't really know, perhaps it is something caused by genes or something in the body, or maybe it's just simply a thing they do because they've picked up on someone else doing it I really do not know.

Have you tried asking the person? They're bound to know more about why THEY personally do it than anyone on here lol, cos could be a condition, or a choice, for why they are doing it.

I think that he sees something in you but he doesn't exactly know what to do. I think that all the gigglin meant he was nervous which is normal when a guy first starts talking to someone he might potentially like. I would get his number and text him saying ok look, would you ever consider dating me and see what he says. Those girls that are with him are probably girls that hang on him every 4 seconds and he might just thIn that your another girl added into his life. Show him that your not one of those girls that never leaves him alone and maybe he will start actually carying on a conversation with you instead of just.... Hi

Be mindful that the person you are speaking of may be a habitual user of methamphetamines. They cause dryness of the mucous membranes (including eyes) and may make a person blink repeatedly to counteract the feeling of dryness.

'speakingofwhich', may be correct, but first you need to confirm its not a medical condition.

Excessive eye blinking can be caused by:
nervous system disorders
tourettes syndrome
anxiety
ptosis
tardive dyskinesia
.. and several other less severe medical conditions.

Look up human psychology, law enforcement agencies use this as a way of telling if people are lying etc.

It's a tick under stress. He may have a problem with shyness.

I know a person who used to do that and it drove me crazy.
They did it because they were on methamphetamine (speed) and lacking sleep! Now that they no longer are on drugs they don't do it anymore.

sounds to me like he's just a bit nervous...maybe he's intimidated by you, or maybe just by people in general, and doesn't feel very confident about himself...sounds like a nervous tic to me.
