The above quote is attributed to Marshall McLuhan. I came across it while studying some of his other work. I guess I may not understand it for a couple of reasons but I was wondering if anyone might understand what he may have meant by this.

Thank you for any insights into this puzzling quote.

McLuhan's work in the media indicates that books, television, and radio are such important facets of our lives that they can actually change the mental health of the person depending on what works a person is exposed.

The example I most readily think of is the Bible. Many schizophrenics that I've treated use the Bible as a very personal, totally consuming work of their own lives. I see no reason why a similarly mentally ill person couldn't use any other literary work.

most illiterates dont get it you would have to have an in depth understanding of the ties between corporate political economic and military powers through history to watch reality unravel I can go to more than one time at a place and place at a time like layers and filters on reality but you are the people of the tower 7 war and the 911coupdetat u dont remember gleiwitzz & reichtag, how we mukden & tonkin so we can nankin, how we OpCyclone troops & switch their use from friend to foe on a daily basis, you are informed by OpMockingbird, u live in cowering fear of OpNorthwoods & you pay that mafia its protection instead of using RICO against Prescott's boys there is nothing new under the sun understanding this would make anyone paranoid every voice would seem to fuse around u into a maelstrom facets like opinions, emotions, arguments and counterarguments picked up from the broken fragments of the emotions seen and voices heard as the crowd moves around you the more you watch the reality beneath everything you look at along with its false cover you must ask yourself are all these fools illiterate?

Well I don't understand it either, but maybe in an extreme way, understanding different concepts through reading comprehension may lead one to have a battle of ideas within their own mind? I know after a day of reading blogs and then a novel to top it off, I'm a big ole intellectually challenged mess....not to mention irritating to people who have to listen to me contradict myself daily.

So let's take it easily:
-What is schizophrenia and which are her symptoms?
-they have hallucinations
-delirium
-they are or paranoid or very disorganized emotional

So may be a necessary consequence of literacy because when we look for the truth in the science we try to fell every think, we are disorganized emotional, sometimes we create our socials hallucinations!
This is social interpretation because clinical schizophrenia can't have this origin.
