Listen to music that makes you feel good. If you're trying to do something verbal (like writing or thinking up a paper) it's usually better to listen to something without words. Studies have been done that show classical music helps with creativity, but if you don't like it, it's only going to be a distraction. Listen to your favorite music - and something that fits your mood when you sit down to create. Radio's no good because of the commercials and sporadic styles.

Beethoven's fifth & ninth symphonies, Antonin Dvorak (pronounced Divorshack) his New World Symphony, Ravel's Bolero, Vivaldi's Four Seasons. There is also Bach, Brahms, Mozart. Paul Les is an incredible listen as well, he would be one of the inspirations for people like Jimi Hendrix, Keith Richards, George Harrison. Try these they may be a wealth of inspiration. Most of them have no vocals just beautiful music so no real distractions listening to what is being sung, but just listening to the score.

Trudy, I think you should listen to ambient music, I have downloaded some off limewire recently and I find it to be relaxing, and I always find that the more relaxed you are the better you can do something. Say for instance, if I miss school a few days for any reason and go back well.. in a few days lol, I always find it more easier to concentrate you see.

Gustav Holsts' The Planets Suite is my favorite set of music to keep on in the background when I'm working. It doesn't have words to distract you and "force" ideas into my head, but each song suite has its own mood and tempo that encourage me to envision images and narratives to suit them.

Even if you're not a fan of classical music-- and I wasn't, until I heard this symphony-- it's a real joy to listen to.

Classical music is best. No words, just music, listen closely and concentrate on what comes to mind while you hear the music, it truly opens the imagination and is soothing.

Classical music inspires me when studying or doing house work. Try some Beethoven or Mozart.

It's going to be hard to ask other people to tell you what msuic you'll find inspirational since that differs for everyone. But if the radio doesn't work, maybe you should go for something entirely instrumental.

I listen to classical Christmas music. It not only reminds of Christmas, it seems to bring me to good spirits and the rest follow.
