My theory is because girls have more of a tendency to "care." Girls "care" more because they have the natural instinct to "care" for children..... If anyone could tell me a better theory or explanation, that would be cool. I don't need to do this for school or anything. It just came up out of my own curiosity.

haha I like your theory! It made me laugh (not in a "sarcastic, thats stupid" way but more a "hmmm" way).
I think it could also have to do with why more women enjoy art then males. I find I have more female friends interested in painting then male friends. Why do women love art so much?
It could be that women like to express themselves more through this form, which may also just relate to the art thing. I do like you "caring" theory, though

I don't have any theories there, however in my family (siblings, parents, cousins, uncles, aunts, grandparents, etc.) the men generally have better handwriting than the women. In fact, even between my girlfriend and I, her cursive and her printing both kind of blend together and are at least legible, whereas my cursive is acceptable, but my printing almost looks typed.

Yes it is true,but i dont leave the guys out,some guys out there do have nice and neat handwritting and do care alot,My brother has a wonderful neat handwritting,& his room is neater than mine,not that my room isnt!

girls care more than guys. about looks, clothes, belongings, and handwriting and generally everything else in the world, but I digress. I used to practice cursive all of the time and it paid off.

I think you're right on target with the "caring" aspect but I think it's more about caring what people think (i.e. the appearance of things).

They generally have smaller hands and better manual dexterity, and also, as you say, they care more about their handwriting looks. They try harder to make it nice.
