For a long time i have had this utilitarian view of things but i wonder, are there other ideas about what is more important in life?

in my younger days I was a bit crazy and I hurt alot of friends that were close to me. I've recently reflected on my life and I went back and said my Sorrys to the many of them. Telling them that I'm not trying to make excuses for myself and i'm not trying to rehash the past but i realize now that i disappointed them. Only one person didn't laugh in my face. Did i do the wrong thing? Should I have just left it alone? Because I didn't realize how much I was hated by so many people. :(

not people over the internet you have never met, but people you could call about a problem and meet for coffee - not just acquaintances - but real freinds? Also, if you dont mind, give me an idea of your age.
I'm trying to figure out if I'm "lonely" or if I just feel that way.
Thanks

We live in a society sorrounding friends, parrents, wife, boss and many more. Everybody has some expectation with us.Even we have some the same with ourself.
But how to stand 100 % on them where we don't know even what one can expect with us.
How can we come to know about one's expectations and fullfill them, where one gets unsatisfied in the course of satisfying another.
Can you answer me ? If the question is clear for you.
or else plz, let me know I will try to describe the question with more clariry.
Thanks.

I heard a very interesting theory about life a couple days ago...

"I'm just in a constant coma, my whole life is a dream, one day I might wake up and realize i've been asleep for years, maybe I'll die that way."

I was fasinated... what is this called?.. if anything...anyone know...

People who are lazy are not only less successful but have poorer health because they excercise less and eat more junk food. Paradoxically, people who seek to relax end up being for stressed out since they have to do more later on to catch up and miss out on many opportunities. Being tired lets you know you need rest, but it's different than being lazy since laziness is more of a mentality thing that results from unwillingness to do something rather than being exhausted.

I just moved into my first new place and I'm having difficulty adapting. I love the freedom and enjoying most of the life style. My question is, does it take awhile to get use to everything? For example this weekend I just sat on my butt and watch basketball tournament. The whole time I felt guilty becuase I felt like I should be doing something. Like work or something. That I should be busy. I was raised to the point where I felt like there was always something to be done. HOw do you break this habit? How do you find out who you are now that you are on your own? In other words, how can one "FIND THEMSELVES"? Its a new lifestyle and a new world.

Lets say your walking down the street and you ask a guy for a quarter to ride the bus and the guy just keeps walking so u cuss him out and call him some bad names. The guy goes home and kills himself. Who's at fault for his suicide? The guy who cusses the other guy out or the guy that just keeps walking?

I hate the spirit of arguing. I just hate arguing, I would always try to avoid it but then it comes to me. I always get a permanent negative image of the person that I argued with. The worst thing is arguing with my mom, because she is the beauty of life and when she gets mad at me she screams really loud then I start getting angry until I can't take it anymore and I scream back. Also arguing becomes easier with that person after the first argument . Does anyone know any effective methods of preventing arguments or healing argumentative situations after they have happened? Great Day/night!!!

Retalliation tactics? Would you just smile when you saw them, Flick them the bird, Scream at them, Invite them to dinner and cook badly, Or just ignore them? My fingers getting tired, I don't smile a whole lot, Don't care for screaming, And I'm not capable of cooking badly....So, Do I just ignore them? Or do exercises to make my finger stronger? (Sorry God)

I had a dream that my boyfriend came to see me. He lives in Massachusetts, I live in Virginia. When he came, he wasn't really... him. He looked about 30 years old [Hes 17] and he had like.. blonde hair. He didn't look like him at all. But his personality was the exact same. But then randomly in the dream, he stole my school books and my pictures. And I was so upset, I started crying.

I know it's so weird. =[

The dreams have a similar theme. I'm driving down a busy interstate, and I fall asleep at the wheel. I try very hard to wake up before causing a crash, or I'm dreaming about taking a nap on a couch when the house catches fire, and I struggle with waking up.Dreaming about not waking up in critical situations. I just wanted some more input .

o.k, I'm a 17 year old male. But I gotta admit something shameful. I have no knowledge nor experience in my life in dealing with people in a relationship. Ever since I was small my father taught me to be always nice to people and accept them when they need me. But growing up I found life a lot different. It's that every time someone asks me for something I always say "yes" regardless of how hard the situation might be on me. Then when I ask them for something they always think twice and sometimes reject more then they accept. I'm so nice to people, I always laugh when someone makes a joke and it isn't even funny. I'm always lenient when it comes to my right, but when it comes to other people rights for my sake, they never sacrifice it for me. This is especially with my friends. My question is; how do you deal with people in a way you are not too nice and not too mean?. At the same time people would accept you and like you for who you are?

that the poisen of my choice is marijuana. I know it is wrong in the community, but from my experiences and others smoking mary J is so much better and better for you than alcohal. I mean people just do not know how to smoke it anymore. All they want to do is get blazed out of their minds and that is where all the bad sterio types come from. Nothing is wrong with a couple of hits now and then to calm down and relax. Alcohal just makes people loud and obnoxious and can ruin lives. Hell ive had 2 friends die from car accidents that had to do with drinking. I smoked occassionally for a good 10 years, and now I own Homebanc and I am moking 6 digits a year.
- never made me lazy, ever
- just lightens you up and makes everyone so much easier to be around
There is nothing wrong with it looking back on my life. All these do not smoke Marijuana commercials make me sick because of all the lies. I do not encourage people to smoke, but if you do it right there is really nothing wrong with it.

two very different things, yet strongly related. I am overly competitive, especially with myself - i'm perhaps a perfectionist, now that i think about it.
at the same time, i'm way too critical with myself and accept no mistakes in whatever i do.
i tend to take both attitudes to the extreme, which is obviously counterproductive on a daily basis and is a mere waste of energy.

aware of all this though, i still can't get rid of either of them. or even tone them down.

anyone else have this problem? what can one do?
