From the hypotheses explaining its causes, what is the MOST ACCEPTABLE cause of this disorder to you? And may I have 2 reasons why?

And what do you think is the most effective (or appropriate) treatment that can be applied?

the best way is to video tape someone with a eating disorder and then show the tape to them. This will definetly wake them up and hopefully it will change them because they will feel disgusted on what they see.

As simple of a question as this appears it is actually very complex. My personal view of what causes an eating disorder is self-esteem and personal self-worth. A person can have low self-esteem for many reasons, whether they are mentally or physically abused, tormented by other kids, looking for attention, etc. Mainly I believe that it stems from past physical or mental abuse.
The best treatment is to rebuild them as a person and let them reclaim themselves and their self-esteem. Professional treatment is definitely needed! I can't stress that enough. The everyday friend can't do what a psychologist can.

Wanting to be a perfect girl. If you have control over what you do or do not eat you are good. If you keep from getting fat you are good. I was hospitalized for four months and had group therapy while there as well as for several years as an out patient. For me therapy was the key.

Unless this is for a school project, the cause/s don't really matter. What does matter is the solution.

Try Overeaters Anonymous. You'll find help and healing there.
