Transcending the dualistic concepts that the mind and body and the delineations between the two while trying to use scientific methods to define and explain concepts such as the ones you find in physiology to explain phenomena of a psychological nature or sociological definitions of the social individual and on and on in a vicious circle that always leaves one with voids in theories when it comes to explaining activity of a mental nature as as a physiological phenomenon. Vygotsky amongst others in Russia, started from the platform that considered the psychological activity as one of the individual social beings activities, an object where dialectic materialism was the method for excellence in resolving the vicious circle. Not only is the individual a physical phenomenon but also a mental phenomenon. Not only are we made up of many individual parts we are also an individual part.
