What can I do before I drift into sleep to dream about what I want to dream about? Thinking about what I want to dream about doesn't help. Lets say I want to dream about me being with my crush or something, can I do that? Or is there basically no way to control that? thankss! =]

Sorry, dear. I know of no way you can pick and choose what you dream about. Most dreams are symbolic anyway, and what you do end up dreaming about doesn't have any immediate association to what you think about. I used to dream about my teeth falling out. Well, dream interpreter told me that I subconsciously feared the loss of a loved one, and the teeth were just a symbolism -- losing the teeth/losing the loved one -- that sort of thing. It would be nice if we could program our dreams, but science hasn't really discovered a way to do that. The only kind of dreams we have control over are daydreams.

I am not promising that this will work;
Make sure that you are yawning and about ready to fall asleep. Turn on a CD of someone reading a book.

Easily, 10 times or more, I dreamed that the reader was talking to me as if we were chatting.

Once, I was lying on a couch and the reader was the Freud-like therapist. I am dreaming, you see.
I get up onto my elbows and I say to the reader/ therapist, "You can't Analyze me. You're not a Psychiatrist. You write novels!" I woke up. The CD wasn't playing any more. But, I 'did' put the reader into a dream.

Your dreams are left to your subconscious state of mind. You have to put all things out of your mind before you go to sleep. I think that the last thing you thought of before you go to sleep seeps into your mind and you wind up dreaming about it, however, that's not the only factor here or whenever you dream but it's true.

if you can, it will be called lucid dreaming....
it is a state where you aware of dreaming...

but if you decide what to dream , most of it will only work in few first minute of dream which is mostly forgotten after you 're awake in the morning.

time in dream is longer / shorter than awaken state.

do this : tell some one to wake you after 10 min you're sleep
, and try remember what you dream in that 10 min

No way to control your dreams. If it were possible, I would have great dreams every night!
