We all know different cliches about women getting together for girl talk while the men go off to play sport and out for a beer in the pub afterwards.

Are the cliches and stereotypes about how men and women relate as friends actually quite useful and pointing to a deeper truth?

Are these ways that we form friendships and relate to each other more about our culture, or are we hard wired to form friendships in different ways?

In just about every relationship, sooner or later, disagreements, tiffs and spats are bound to occur.

In your experience, do men and women have different ways of resolving conflict. Emotion, logic, anger, winning the argument and just plain old saying sorry.

Do you think that gender is significant in the ways we prefer to resolve our conflicts?

I was at the check-out stand today and noticed a Women's Health magazine. The cover featured a smiling, sexy, bikini-clad hotty instead of a normal person. Is all the talk by women complaining about women being portrayed as sex objects just that-talk?
Do sexy women on covers sell more magazines to women than realistic-looking women?

My girl might call from work, say hi, then we can be silent for like 10 minutes humming beats and stuff. I can say "I guess Ill talk to you later!" she wont let me hang up, she'll find something to talk about.

So we wind up silent for an hour. As men, we call, say what we have to say, then we gone.

Attractive women for the most part, are considered by men.. to be at the top of the food chain. They are the women most men want or wish they could get. Men do not deny this.

Women claim to focus on LOVE and CHEMISTRY when picking men.. but this seems to be false. The women who are considered the BEST according to society often pursue men with money, and/or power and status. They want BAD BOYS and RICH MEN. Not the nice guys who will treat them like a queen. Thats the reputation they have.

Why do they have this reputation?

Men have a reputation for seeking physically attractive women... and last I checked.. most do.. or at least want to.

I say actions speak louder than words. Why do women deny something that is so obvious to men? We see what you DO so why should listen to what you SAY when it doesn't match your actions?

I told him and I went out and bought him Christmas gifts. Well on Christmas he accused me of cheating on him and said I didn't deserve to get anything from him. I didn't cheat on him and I don't know why his attitude changed so quick. I was able to take some of the things back but not all. When my birthday and valentines day (he did call and say happy valentines day.) had passed at the end of February we started talking again and he said he would make it up to me but he never did. He is still being nice to me telling me how much he loves me. Christmas is coming around again. Should I buy him gifts this year also should I be be preparing my heart for him to flip out on me again? I love him but part of me is still holding back because I'm afraid he'll hurt me again.

From an answer posted in this question:

"There were at least two technological revolutions (agricultural and industrial) that really took away the need for the man's role (hunting in the former, plowing in the latter). Women, on the other hand, are as important as they've ever been. They give birth to and mostly raise the children.

We men are freaking out (and don't even realize it) because our role has been devalued and we feel less biologically useful. And really, we are less biologically useful. This imbalance has created a lot of the sexism we see today."

If this is true, then would it follow that in order to eliminate sexism, we must make men feel MORE valued for their contributions? If they felt more useful they would have no need to demean or discriminate against women.
It seems contrarian - but could it work?

Given that feminism is apparently about the social and economic "equality" of a supposedly disenfranchised group, which is the central theme of Marxism, is it correct to say that feminism is just an extension of Marxism? If not, how does it differ?

A poster a few minutes ago mentioned that the feminist movement has gotten laws passed that have made women superior and have taken away the rights of men.

I admit to being clueless about this since I'm not aware of which laws he was talking about. Can someone cite these specific laws and how they've negatively affected men?

Also, if they're talking about divorce and custody laws, how do they differ today compared to the days prior to feminism?

i feel that i am honest in my answers, but i sense that many others are not. going beyond the attention seeking radicals it seems to me that many tend to sugar coat their responses. i find this behavior bizarre because the community is so vast, why not just say what you think?

is it a matter of people lying to themselves or political correctness gone overboard? or perhaps i'm just too cynical...

i realize one could argue i'm asking in the wrong category but this behavior seem more evident here. why is that?

I've had many feminist's block me for no apparent reason. Yet, I'm confident that if these folk were to speak with some of their Sistah's who haven't blocked me, they'd find even in PM's I am pretty decent and respectful...

So, the only reason I can fathom for their decision to block - is cowardice. What do others think?

i see that using women in photos or in shows for products promotion is impolite. some say that a woman whose half naked in ads attracts consumers while i see that a little child with lovely clothes is more attractive than a naked lady.

this is degrading to women honor.

That is, men should not have any rights regarding the fate of their children prior to birth? Do you believe in this only under certain circumstances, regardless of the circumstance, or under no circumstances?

If the father (and his family) were willing to raise the child regardless of whether the mother wanted to be a part of it, does he have the right to have his own child, or do you believe she should be able to deny him of his child and abort?

After all, biology is the reason she is pregnant rather than him, so should he be punished for being unable to have a baby? (and don't avoid the question by saying that men couldn't deal with it. If they were capable of pregnancy, then they could endure.)

Please answer under the terms that:
1. She was not raped, and it wasn't incestual. She consented.
2. There is no threat to her health/life should she have the baby.

If you do believe in it, do you think it goes against the ideal of gender equality? (explain)
