the question is a response to a song called "when is a man a man". it talks about how men: are stubborn, get thin hair, have it hard but take it easy, they're strong, they have muscles, they're always ready to go...

looking for stereotypes that aren't (TOO) cruel.

Like that phrase "I dont know how to define pornography, but I know it when I see it" - its like that with women.

A good freind of mine was transgendered - and birth/genetic/biology aside, she was just as much a woman as me....

So - I dont get hung up on what people wear, or which room they piss in - its whats inside that counts for me.

Years ago back in the mid eighties I got into a heated debate with my younger brother. He said " old enough to bleed, old enough to breed"! I said " no".
Once a girl starts menstruating her body is only preparing for adulthood and maturity. It really isn't a demarcation line for womanhood as commonly thought. A pregnant teenager is going to pay for it by the time she is in her early forties. The teenager is still growing herself and for her to give sustenance to a life in her own body means that the body itself is directing all the nutrients the girl needs to grow herself and send them into the fetus. This means that by the time the woman is in her late thirties the symptoms start to appear. Things like poor bone structure, bad back bones, and other symptoms as well.
This takes away from the growing body of a teenager, and we all know that teenagers are growing at a phenomenal rate during those few years. At this age a pregnancy is not good for both mother and child because both bodies do not get the required nourishment for proper growth. Both of them are shortchanged.
So. I would say that a woman is a woman when her body has fully developed and matured to a state where her physical needs are not needed for growth.
More often than not, it's around the early twenties of the woman. More often than not she is usually more mentally mature as well.
That's my considered opinion and my brother argued tooth and nail against that!
Hell we were both drinking that night anyways but I put a lot of thought into it since because of that arguement.
Really strange what a pair of drunks will argue over isn't it?

A woman is a woman when she lacks the Y chromosome, or (in one of 150.000 cases) the testicles dont drop, and they dont secret testosterone to the body, making in this case, paradoxically, a really feminine woman, with big hips, big breasts, and ladylike behaviour. Although some medical conditions must be adapted to this he-female, she is (mostly) biologically and (fully) socially female. They are infertile though.

biologically, when she has reached the point in her physical development in which fertility begins. Mentally, when she is mature enough to realize the consequences of her actions.

I would also argue that when a person feels more comfortable as a woman and makes a choice to strat living as one, then she is a woman as well, mentally, if not biologically

Biologically, when she has her first period.

Mentally, when she's able to realize her responsibilities and duties, and the consequences for her actions. Since many women are raised in today's society to blame everything on men and put full responsibility for all of their own actions on the shoulders of men, this would mean that many females don't become "women" until well into their late 30's and 40's.

Would not having chest hair qualify?
What about not having a mustache that makes her look like she has a second pair of lips?
Doesn't smell like she brought the gym home with her?
Doesn't look like Mike Tyson. Because he already sounds like a woman.
I think I should stop!

Well I started getting my period this year so biologically I am or will be when I develop a cycle.

But I really think of being a woman in terms of being a female adult so I think it is really mental more than physical.

Edit: I prefer to call myself a woman. And I feel that I have the right to call myself a woman.
