I prefer a wise person.
My last boss ran things smoothly. Thing's where done in a timely manner and was very well organized. The work it self was nit-picked to death but at the end there was very quality stuff.
My current boss didn't even know what my title was until I asked for a promotion. This boss is rarely in the office and has no idea what is happening. The work is done but none of the nit-picky things are done so it's not as nice but still do-able.
What boss is what gender? Does it matter?

We were discussing this in my economics class today.
Anyway, I have worked a number of jobs, so I have had both male and female bosses. The worst bosses I ever had were female, and the best bosses I've ever had were female. The males were somewhere in the middle. I don't attribute their behavior as a boss to their gender, rather the individual.

I prefer men, military women, and women with brothers as bosses. The reason is, generally, these people don't take professional disagreement personally.
Most women tend to personalize things far more often than men. That's the way most of us were socialized. I had a boss I could go toe-to-toe on an issue and have lunch with her later that day. She was so cool! I later found out she has a brother.

i prefer a boss that acknowledges my abilities & accomplishments and doesn't single me out for being a rare women in the field.
i've had 3 male bosses, one was a sexist pig, one was absolutely fabulous to work with--i still miss him, and the current one seems to be decent.
i've worked with 4 clients (my personal business) and there was no distinction between the sexes as to whom was more competent or easier to work with.
i care not what genetalia my boss has, thanks.

I'd prefer a male, because I want a leader who's blunt, factual, and no-nonsense. Obviously, not all men are like this, and not all women are not (like me), but the males in leadership positions would be.
But then, I would prefer all my coworkers, assistants, etc, to be males, not just my supervisor, because most of the women I know are immature and irrational.

I don't care about gender- I just want a boss who will stay out of my way and let me do my job.

I've worked for both and there were personality aspects of each that I did and did not like. It didn't come down to a gender thing. Mostly, I want to be respected and allowed to do my work my way. I hate being micromanaged.

A woman - because having worked for both for many years, I find (most) women are more 'humane' and direct. Besides, I relate better to women - instinctively.

As long as they're fair, smart, and don't micromanage, I don't care what sex they are. I've had great and horrible managers in both genders.
