I asked that question because I heard that men are given preferential treatment in the workforce and in politics because they are seen as strong and aggressive. But I also heard women receive preferntial treatment by the law in many cases because they are seen as weak and needed to be protected. In totality who is the more discriminated sex?

As a male, I don't think it possible to be attracted to a women unless she were my intellectual peer. After all, if she wasn't, what would we talk about?

However, I know I cannot speak for all men. Do you feel most men place intelligence somewhere high on their list of things they find attractive?

I suspect a fragmentation to occur. The general movement will become more and more moderate with the fringes more radical. I suspect a healing to take place, as a proper balance is reached between men and women and tensions are alleved.

Simone de Beauvoir's feminist classic, The Second Sex, was often read as an application of Sartrean existentialism, and therefore, dismissed as unoriginal. I want to know if de Beauvoir ever tried to defend her originality.

I know a hundred years ago or more the Catholics held a convention to try and rule that the female gender was born w/o a soul. I'm not a christian so it won't offend me if you knock catholics...I just wanted to know why they were dehumanizing women.

Before that we were just friends. He moved into my house as an 18 year old. He was just a boarder. Paid his share of the rent, and did his share of household chores.

Then we moved to Toronto together, again only as roommates. But apparently he had fantasies. And he chased me, and wore me down.

He would continuously declare his love for me, and how he wanted more, and how our friendship was so fantastic, that a relationship would be better.

I caved in, I'm still happy. But sometimes the age difference scares me!

Now he wants to get married. How long should I make him wait? I told him if he feels the same way at 25, then I would, is that reasonable? I am in love with him, but so much so, I could give him up, I am hoping by the time he's 25 he'll see the age difference and move on. I can't push him away, I'm hoping he grows away. He is completely aware that I cannot, and would not have or raise any more children.

example: WHY is there a wage GAP between men and women?
Despite what anti feminists claim, that this is illegal and it cannot possibly be happening, we have rampant examples of it happening ALL the time. Especially by misogynists who can't stand the fact that women may have some advantages in society to raise their families. No wonder there is such a high level of poverty among women and children when you have people with this selfish mentality

It makes me laugh that some of us have been so brainwashed we actually believe this rubbish.

At the end of the day, be a man, we love women, but you dont have to suck up to them to be a decent bloke.

Id like to hear your views on why some men on this site suck up to the feminists, perhaps some sort of freudian mother pleasing thing??

Advise please

Mean that women are more oppressed than men? A certain poster on this website seems to think so. Now, that doesn't make much sense to me because one can easily be "represented" by a different gender- the point of representation is that someone represents your voice and beliefs on certain issues. It doesn't matter if that person is a male, a female, black, white, or albino.

Furthermore, if women don't CHOOSE to get into governmental positions, why should there be "equality" in that field? If men WANT to lead and women DON'T, or if women are voting for male candidates instead of female candidates, then what's the problem?

It seems to me that insinuating a group is oppressed because they aren't explicitly making decisions (even though they may easily influence the decision makers) makes very little sense to me; indeed, it seems to show a lack of critical thought and analysis.

So, does the fact that there are fewer women in governmental roles mean they are more oppressed than men are?

..Recently I have been thinking about the absence of respect that both men and women have for their innate biological gender roles. I don't mean to turn this into a post- feminist spring board question, but I think what we're seeing is a generation that not only does not know how to pick up their newly recieved responsibilities (i.e. having two working spouses) but also lack the knowledge of how to pass on and live up to their innate responsibilities (there are innfinite examples of these innate responsibilities I could point out here but the two that jump out to me personally are the nurturing that only a mother can provide a child, and the sense of duty and respect that fathers have always had the uncanny ability to instill in their children)...I am young myself and I have noticed that young people today seem to lack these things that really, I thought, came naturally....What is going on?
