One of my girlfriends just called and told me that her brother died over the weekend.
He was a Dr., 51 years old and killed by a woman drunk driver.
My friend has to travel 1500 miles to the funeral, help with arrangements, and look after her 83 y/old Mother.
How can I ease her heartache?
Thanks

I ask this question because i found an article, by, Amartya Sen, (1990) that estimated that approximately 100 million women were missing. I came across this in a small publication that devotes the majority of it concerns toward women's issues. I would think this would be big news, evidently the mainstream media did not. I don't remember hearing anything about it on mainstream or reading about it. Sort of reminds me of when Clinton was president and people in the states were not aware that in Rawanda militants were killing people left and right, i don't remember that getting alot of press either.

I mean, if we're going to be so nice to them, why don't we just have a Love Your Rapist Day?

Do women who have less than perfect bodies find these types of contests more offensive than the more attractive women?? Do older women have different views (in general) than younger women regarding these contests?

Think about it for a minute before You dismiss the idea out of hand.
In a politically correct world where there should be no advantages born from an accident of birth, would it not make sense to 'de-objectify' the parties by the simple expedient of each supplying the other with a suitable "token" of Their mutual love and respect? Not merely exchanging "Wedding rings" or Marriage Bands" but an actual "Engagement Ring" given to the betrothed Male.
How many Women, when confronted by this situation would break with tradition as opposed to following the normal proceedure?
I have been asked to marry twice (some people have no taste or are really desperate), and am just curious as to Your perspective.
What are Your personal, honest, rather than P.C., thoughts on the subject?

The word "abuse" isn't exclusive to physical harm. Many women around the world, across races, religions, income, class & cultures, are equally subjected to psychological, social or mental abuse, which are sometimes even more damaging than physical violence.
How can sexist, derogatory & abusive attitudes be overcome?
What role do the rest of us play in this process of change?

So...how do we feel? Is this the sign of a brave new world in which gender roles will be thrown off, swapped, mingled, and re-created to whatever the individual wants...or are they just some bleeding poofters? Shag worthy? Freaks that would have been stoned in a more sensible time? Appealing to women...or not?

I'm not fat, but i'm definitely not thin. I'm 28 years old, 158 lbs and 5ft11 tall. As long as i have this weight it's like i don't feel good enough to have a loving relationship so i'm not even bothering, i don't date and i don't go out much. I don't know how to accept myself the way i am.

It seems more like a trap to me. I mean if I happen to be seduced then my husband would probably want a divorce. I can see that happening, as I am not good with temptations (especially those sexual in nature). And the thought of children frightens me. I really don't think I'd make a good mother. How do you people put up with children?

Why do you show up at these places? Women in pairs or more come to say a boxing match, dressing like sluts, everyone can see they're not there as knowledgeble fans of the event. Why are you showing your faces here?

There's nothing wrong with anyone who has an interest in the event--- but these women you would think just go around town looking for events that large groups of people are going to view- come in there dressing like ho's trying their best to take attention away from the event; and for what?

In my family when I was growing up (2 males, 2 females), we all shared a toilet, and my dad and brother put the seat where they wanted (usually up) and mum and I put it where we wanted (down). No issues, no problems.

After I became an adult, I discovered from television and so on that there was like this whole culture of jokes etc based around men not putting the toilet seat down, as if it was something they had done "wrong".

Is there any actual logic behind this idea, and in the real world, do real women care where their toilet seat goes? If so, how on earth does it trouble you?

And where/when did this idea start? Is it an American thing, an urban thing, or a 90s thing?

Isabel Lestapier Winqvist, 20, has dropped out because Swedes say the Miss Universe competition, airing live Monday night from Mexico City's National Auditorium, is degrading to women and weighed down by scandals.

Personally, I have never felt degraded by beauty pagents and this seems to be a rather odd decision considering that Sweden has won the pagent three times, which is a distinction that they share with very few countries.

Wot do you think? Are beauty pagents degrading? Is Miss Sweden doing a service or disservice to the people of Sweden by not competing?

i.e. If I were to ask this question about conservative viewpoints (no correlation is being drawn, simply an example) some things that might be listed are..
~illegalization of gay marriage
~abolition of welfare
~immediate deportation of all illegal immigrants
etc...

Thanks everyone
