The difference is because of traditional and spiritual background. As these Asian countries have a strong foundation in spiritual principles the same is reflected in the people of those places.

It is not the case in females, if you carefully observe even males are very 'heartful' persons rather than just 'intelllectuals' in these Asian countries.

Even in western countries, those who has the inclination of spiritual or traditional values has the sense of humbleness, softness, kindness, perfection etc.

Personally, I have friends that are Korean and Japanese, and NEITHER one of them are submissive. Feminine maybe...but no more than my American friends. They are definitly not submissive though, actually they are more demanding and authoritative towards their spouse. To say the least, they are the boss at their house. I don't know what your looking for in a women, but apparently it's someone who will not stand up for herself....in the long run, that's a very bad idea.

There are some of us that are still very feminine, but the submissive part hmm, you're thinking before 90's. If you want a very submissive woman go to japan or korea you'll find what you're looking for. I serve my husband and I bring him a snack a little later on in the night but as far as being totally submissive, I'd like to think I'm his partner and not his slave or geisha.

This question has been asked so many times, I though I'd contribute my 2 cents worth.

I am an asian women. I don't think its that asian women are taught to treat their men like kings. The thing is asian culture as a whole, men and women included are not very demanding. They dont expect things to be perfect and have a higher tolerance power for discomforts.

I see that americans of all ethnicities are used to demanding the best, thats how a consumerist society is.In doing so, we have forgotten to "make the best of things", to put up with imperfections in our partners or in life in general. I think we need a balance netween the two attitudes.

Because American men expect their wives to bring home a paycheck and "contribute". Japanese and Indian men expect to treat their wives like princesses, and the women in return act like princesses. Japanese full-time moms are especially highly regarded, partially for their efforts at educating their children and helping them to succeed.

You might also note that in many Asian families, the wives control the money. My Chinese relatives say, "the man earns it, the woman spends it." And this is considered the best way to do things, not a sarcastic remark. So ideas about what is "submissive" vary a lot.

It is a matter of tradition and culture. America received powerful influences from all the immigrants who came from countless countries.
Japan and India have a milennar civilization, without exterior influence. Although many things changed with modern times, notions of honor, beliefs and correct behavior remain almost the same.
American women are encouraged to show their personality, orientals are expected to be very discreet .

That you equate submissiveness and femininity is apparent. I don't. I've been with Asian women and women from Western nations, and while being with a submissive woman is ego-gratifying and makes men feel very masculine and powerful, I realized that I prefer being with a partner who is an equal, not one who subsumes her own will to mine. If that's what YOU need to feel masculine and powerful, go for it. Some of us are a bit more well-adjusted than that.

Forty years of feminism hasn't helped. But the main reason is that America was a pioneer nation and the women had to be tough. The immigrants to the US were tough and everyone is insanely competitive. Submission, compassion and gentleness don't figure a lot but divorce sure does. In summary it is the culture.

Any man who enjoys dominating women in a safe and respectful manor knows full well that the submissive partner is the stronger of the two and is the one who is truly in charge. I know as I am a submissive american lady.

Not all Asian women are super attractive, or feminine, or servile towards men. A good portion of those that I've grown up with are snobs.
