As a male, I don't think it possible to be attracted to a women unless she were my intellectual peer. After all, if she wasn't, what would we talk about?

However, I know I cannot speak for all men. Do you feel most men place intelligence somewhere high on their list of things they find attractive?

Rio, concurred.

Mary, I see general shyness as a positive attribute and NOT a sign of weakness. A wise person only speaks when they have something to say. You are quite right.

There are a few chauvinistic men and teenage boys who like their women dumb, vacuous, and completely uninhibited. However, mature men appreciate a woman's intellect. How else can you have a decent conversation?

Sorry Music Man...cause I'm sure it appears that I'm picking on you or your questions today. I'm not...just want to be clear...you know?

To answer directly and generally, I would say yes...men are attracted to intelligence in a woman. But I qualify that with the notion that we have to look at the motivation of that man. If he's out trolling (the sexual meaning of the word), intelligence will not be high on his list. A visual attraction is all that is truly required...that and the indication that she will be a willing participant in the evening's activities. But if he's looking for a mate...a woman with whom he can start a relationship, an intelligent man will definitely be looking for his counterpart...

I think that it definitely makes the package look better. Altho looks have a lot to do with it and can be overriding factor. There is also cases where guy want the woman to be their intellectual peer but if she is more intelligent then they feel threatened and inadequate and insecure (especially if the woman is good looking as well) . I guess it's finding the happy medium. You have to find someone who you're attracted to whom you believe to be intellectually compatible with you.

No. I heard a similar discussion on the radio yesterday- and the consensus of the guys was, if given the choice between a blonde, gum-cracking young pretty woman working in reception or the female owner of the building (implying smart, successful, confident, etc. ), most guys would choose the young blonde. Nature, I guess. Maybe it has something to do with instinct to father children.

I think some men look for dumb blonds in order to feel superior. Some men think that if she were equal or smarter than him he would not be as much of a "man".

Some men do think intellect should be high on their list. I hate to stereotype, but many "geeks" and "gamers" consider intelligence very important (like my husband).

I think it depends on his plans for the woman. If you're going to be procreating, you want someone smart enough to do a good job and raise bright kids. The same goes for a life-long companion; you want someone that you have something in common with, someone who is intellectually stimulating.

If you're just out for some fun, I'd think men would go after someone who is cute, but lacks the ability to think ahead too far into the future.....your basic dumb stereotype. This might actually benefit them, if they really want something casual. Smart women can see when they're being used.

Physically: I like women with skin color ranging from tan (olive skin) to pale white skin. I like women with dark hair (either black or brown), eye color doesn't matter. I like women with even normal face features, example would be jennifer love hewitt. I like women with either wavy or straight hair, I want her to be average size (5"5"- 5"7") I'm 5"8" so when I have kids I want to have them with a woman who isn't short. Nice plump butt with a good hip to waist ratio, I want her to be curvy and have breast that are nice and plump as well but not overly big. I don't want her to be fat but fit, I don't mind if she has a six pack and tight muscles so long as she isn't overweight. I like latinas so I prefer her to be latina. Personality: I want a woman who is very loving and romantic so I need a woman who loves giving affection and getting it back. I also want a woman who is loyal and who won't judge me. I want a girl who cares not only about me but others and she has to be nice and have some control over her anger. I want a woman who speaks her mind and tells the truth and isn't afraid to show her emotions. I don't care if she is independant but I want her to be submissive in bed (I have a thing for dominating in bed). I don't mind if she works so long as she can keep the house tidy and make time for the kids. I want someone who is family oriented and who loves children and can be a good mother. Now this is all I can think of that makes a woman attractive but I'm not perfect so I don't expect my future wife to be perfect either.

i think that for both women and men, we are automatically attracted by beauty/hottness/whatever you call it. but when it comes to looking at that person as a soul mate/ long time lover, i believe that we look at intelligence and other things that are more valuable in a relationship. i know that i am very attracted to men who are smart and intelligent, but i also have to be physically attracted to them. also, sometimes people that you are not automatically attracted to can become more pleasing to your eye when you see their intelligence and other traits.

Yes, except for the women who have little self esteem. Of course I don't mean shy, sometimes that's an attribute
