I asked that question because I heard that men are given preferential treatment in the workforce and in politics because they are seen as strong and aggressive. But I also heard women receive preferntial treatment by the law in many cases because they are seen as weak and needed to be protected. In totality who is the more discriminated sex?

Now let's see....we have the Violence Against Women Act which gives billions for abused women and even assures they are abused simply by their saying they were but there is not one dime to help the 39% of the victims that even the feds admit to. (in reality, abuse is equal) This VAWA also only had those who represented women at the table and it was actually written by radical feminist and there was no input by anyone from the other side. Sort of like writing racial laws with only the KKK represented.

The VAWA also prevents men from being able to defend themselves if a woman is attacking them. If she so much as has one bruise on her, he will be arrested even if the bruise was to keep her from ramming a knife into him. If he tried to leave in the middle of an argument, she can block his exit and he can do nothing. If he tires to block her from leaving, he can be charged with unlawful imprisonment.

We have affirmative actions which assures an even playing field in any area women were under represented yet in many areas where men are under represented, there is nothing.

We hear about breast cancer research almost every day including during prostate cancer week which ironical is when M&M's launched their breast cancer funding drive last year. (it does not matter that prostate cancer kills almost as many men)

Then we have many women only clubs, and other places but women have invaded almost every men's only place there is.

There are 12 female only excuses to get away with crime including the use of PMS but it is strange that that only works one way.

Women get full custody in well over 85 of the contested cases even if it has been proven they are the abusers.

Then there is "choice" Women can chose to murder their unborn babies or leave newborns at a fire station and need never be concerned about what the father wants but they can also chose to have this baby if the father does not want responsibility and force him to pay for 18 or more years and often he may not even be the father but gets his "notice" after the time he is able to contest it is up.

Women also can ignore family court orders without penalty. I know of many men who have not been able to see their children although they have gotten one court order after another at great personal expense as there are no free lawyers for them while their ex ignores these court orders. Yet if he does not pay child support he will most often the courts which will not rule in his favor.

This is just for starters....now what was the question again?

This is an interesting question.

There are areas where women are more likely to get the upper hand. As it has been mentioned, court custody cases. This is slowly changing, which I support. Being female does not make one automatically the better parent.

However, women are also discriminated against in other venues. The workforce still has a lot of inequity to it. Part of this is due to some actions by women as well (women are less likely to ask for a raise, for example). The US does not have paternity leave, which I think is a shame. It is still expected that women are the primary caregivers and men should just go to work and bring home the bacon in that respect. Women are still blamed for anything that goes wrong with the kids...they are even being blamed for childhood obesity now.

Focusing on the discrimination too much doesn't help, either. It puts both sides of the issues on the defensive, in my opinion. The best way FOR the inequity to be as resolved as possible is if both genders and viewpoints are part of the solution.

once you place it that way i assume they're discriminated against, despite if it works their benefit now and returned. different situations it would not. A constructive woman is a *itch and many times it is an unfair type. individually, i'm happy i'm a guy, women persons could post with objectification from adult men and tension to be suited each and every of the time. getting out of a speed cost tag right here and there is no longer well worth all that horsepoop. one ingredient I do be conscious is that ladies persons are Nasty to one yet another. My spouse has had a number of woman and male bosses. She's never pronounced a foul notice on the topic of the boys, however the girls look propose, stealing initiatives she had basically approximately carried out and taking credit from her.

Men are becoming more discriminated against. Child custody cases and divorce settlements are a couple of examples.

Feminists have taken away our constitutional rights to the presumption of innocence where domestic violence and rape accusations are concerned, and have justified this by saying that it's better to punish innocent men than to let guilty ones remain free, contrary to a basic tenet of any free society.

Sexual harassment suits are another, or female-on-male domestic violence. Our society is turning into an under-the-table matriarchy.

As far as wages are concerned, who has more college degrees, and who works more overtime? Who does more dangerous jobs?

The fact that most elected officials are men is irrelevant, because politicians are cowards, who will do whatever they feel will make them less politically liable, not what's right.

Men have let this happen, because we have a "tough" complex, where we're too immature and macho to acknowledge that we can be vulnerable to harm too, and because of our ridiculous old fashioned "up-bringings" on "chivalry."

In short, most men probably deserve it, but many of us do not.

i dont know but i give you a ton of credit for looking at both sides of it instead of just your own! everyone is always going to be discriminated against for being black/white/guy/girl and stereotyped after that. its the way the world is, whether it right or not, and crying about it or doing it back isnt going to fix it! all we can do is try not to fall into it and deal with it.

Prefential treatment on account of "weakness" is sexist in itself. We feminists are fighting for equality under the law in all its forms.

I think it tends to even out. There are people who will be more biased one way or another. Women do have benefits that men don't. I think when men are given preferential treatment it is because they may be more physically capable and they don't take maternity leave and rarely take sick days to stay home with sick kids.
