I work in a small touristic company of 12 people and it is horrible! I have studied Math in the uni for 6 years and also speak several languages and here they make me to do a secretary, to wash the floor all together with having lunches with clients from abroad cause I'm the only one who speaks those languages! With my languages and ability to make contacts they really need me here! But this horrible washing of the floor... and they shout at me about everything! And we always work more then 9 hours a day, usually about 12 and sometimes more then 15 hours. We also don't have a breake for a dinner. Well, we can eat but we can't go out (it's not said but if you go out they start shouting and such and asking angriely why aren't you working) and we usually eat continuing working in front of the pc and repling on the phone calls. And I get paid very little, I get paid 2$ per hour... it's the cost of BigMc here.. I wrote in BigMcs cause I live in Ukraine, so the prices and salaries are different. This is my first job. Tell me please if this is really like this everywhere or I was a lucky one? Or maybe I am to picky and have to take life like it is instead of wanting something good or at least normal! Thank you all very much!

I wish you a great Christmas! ;)

I sent it today, this teacher quit on October, I thought he still
worked there but I called later to the school after I sent it and they said he no longer works there since October. Will they send it back to me or will they forward it to his home address even though he quit on October(2 months ago).
If he got fired on October (which I'm thinking he did but not sure), will they forward it to his personal address or will they send it back to my address ?

I'm referring to a small medical community college in a small town. Few students and teachers.

Do you think that when they receive the card, they'll look at the card and think that it's "unworthy" for them to forward it to his address ? It is not unethical.

and another thing, do you think that more than likely they won't forward it because "the teacher no longer is their business". ?

What I'm wondering is, if you think that people can change a fundamental flaw in their personality - i.e. being selfish, conceited, arrogant, vain or on the other hand low in self-confidence, down on themselves etc. to being better people - more kind and generous and happier on the whole?

Is it possible to change one or more bad thing about your character and if so, is there a particular way to go about it? I know no one is perfect but if there's something you don't like about yourself can you change it or are you stuck with that characteristic forever?

Sorry if my question sounds confusing.

i had this really horrible dream last night, i went to some Dr and he cut both of my wrists so deep that the instrument went straight through my bones and then he put lenses (like the ones you put in your frames) into the slits for a few seconds ...it was so gross i remember feeling sick in my sleep and panicking....i couldnt understand why he was putting a lens in the slits or why he would cut the wrists in the first place! I was terrified that he wouldnt be able to sow my hands back on properly and then i woke in cold sweat....

its was so scarey i was having palpitations...my dreams are usually very vivid and detailed....but never so gruesome!

what do you make of this?

Why me?
seems that even strangers do not treat me as equal.

somehow I feel they can tell right away that I feel insecure and can be easily bullied. This feeling is so strong after a good friend (not in contact anymore) abused me psychological and sexually.

how to help myself.

There is no moral judgment against piracy as a way of life. In fact pirates seem more moral than the British Empire. What are the implications of this?

Is it the system that enables the people to become perfect, or is it the people who make the system work perfectly?

Could perfect people make any system work perfectly?

Could the perfect system make any people perfect?

Are peace, love, happiness and success better achieved by implementing external systems (Laws, incentives, consequences, etc.) to push people in the right direction, or are they better achieved by helping people to become internally motivated by love, kindness, consideration, etc.

By "System" I mean external structures like government, economics, religion (in some cases), ect.

By "Perfect" I mean hypothetically the best possible system or the best that people can be.

Currently I am seeing a phyciatrist and a social worker about wanting to change my life.
Just moved out of my house and into my first place in hopes to change things, however still have the fear of social events.
Yes the therapy I am getting is good but it is not the fix for my fears of not knowing what to say and worries of what others will think of me for not always knowing what to say for being nervous.
I am forcing myself to do social things in hopes it will eventually get me out of this rut but I still am finding it hard to go up to someone and start a conversation.
The anti-depressants are helping but was wondering if anyone can shed info if al=anon group meetings would be helpful to get over these fears, since some were installed from someone in my life who drinks.

So I hope to hear some comments about this,

“Development is primarily a political process about the transformation of social identities and a society’s moral economy. To treat it as a series of technical problems relating to the engineering of economic growth provokes disorder, conflict and violence.” Discuss.
