yes its applicable to every type of relation. however, only one relation, i.e of mother and kid. mother doesnt expect anything from her kid. she give unconditional love. its up to the kid to respect the love of mother.

I would say it is, especially if it is a relationship in which you care for each other; usually both parties have to compromise to have win-win situations.
Sacrifice, gifts and sentiments are ways each party can show they really care, compassion and forgiveness are also.

Yes, of course. Not just in human relation but with every beings-living and non living. For example, I need oxygen for my survival which the plant gives me and the plant need carbon dioxide for its survival which I give it to plant by converting the oxygen taken by it into CO2

Give and take is the very basis of all beings in Creation.
