I am in college now and plane to go to medical school and become a medical doctor. I want to be able to devote my life to this work, and do not want children to take away from it. If I had children they would come first, and that is not in my plan. Beside there are already too many of us on earth so in my little way I will be helping the overpopulation. I may or may not get married that is secondary, and I would probably have a difficult time finding someone who would put up with me. I suppose I will just end up with a series of relationships. Before I even think about marriage I have at least ten years before I will be in practice as a doctor, and that comes before anything.

What ever they want, I assume. I used to not want to get married or have children. I love to travel and often do just up and go somewhere else. I do want to get married someday (now that I've found a wonderful man) but the children thing is still up for grabs.
Some women just love their life, career, or the freedom one has when not married or without children. There is nothing wrong with it, its their personal choice. Men do this too. Some people just aren't the marrying type.

Whatever I want.
Advance my career, own a home, get a dog, travel. Maybe I'll even decide to get married (and - GASP! - have kids).
I am not against the idea of marriage, but I am against the idea that a woman HAS to be married in order to be happy. I am happier than some of my friends whose marriages are now in trouble.

I'm not sure if I want to get married or not. However, I plan to go to grad school and work for the CDC and be successful, whether or not I'm married. At least for the moment, I'd like to think that my priorities in life would be at least equally as important as, if not more important than, a husband.

You make it sound like getting married is the most important thing a woman can do with her life. It's not.
I plan to build my career, possibly starting a business if I can muster up the courage to do it; eventually own a home; finish some major writing projects; spend lots of quality time with my friends; do a little traveling; and be a cool aunt for my brother's kids.

I was going to be a doctor and have at least part of my schooling in Cuba and and live in Latin America and help people and maybe do research and then maybe go back home someday or indian country to practise and retire.
But instead I think I will start a rock group and become a black metal goddess.
Hey you can be our drug dealer Hala! What do you think? We can even give you credit on the album! :)

*Go to hypnotherapy school
*Become a dress maker and start my own fashion line (even if it's just a small project that provides only supplemental income)
*Travel
*Enjoy my disposable income
After that... who knows. Part of the fun is seeing what life brings you.
Edit: why do I keep getting thumbs down today? Who is passionately against well tailored gowns and hypnotherapy?
Edit: Oh! And I forgot the best part of the plan. My best friend and I agreed that when we're old ladies, we'll move into a decrepit Victorian mansion on a hill and go completely insane. We'll grow long white hair down to our butts and perform spells that involve dancing naked in the moonlight on the front yard.

My mom has been single her whole life except for 8 years of her life when she was married to my dad. She worked, had hobbies such as gardening, worked out at the gym, ran 10k races, hung out with friends, went to the beach, to the movies, travelled, purchase her own home and learned home repair and remodelling, spend time with us kids and basically enjoyed her life.
Now in her sixties, my mom has a boyfriend, but she's not as happy because he just shows up at her house to watch football and expects her to make him food for him.

LAUGHS....
what about the women who never plan to have children? Did you ask that questions.. to the women who never plan to have children what are you going to do with your life?
well, there is work, my family of my parents and brother and sister. My sister is married with two nephews. I can date when I want, who I want and if I don't like them I can date someone else, without worrying about it, as if I were married and was unhappy, going through a divorce and all the hassles that causes.
I can do what I want to do, when I want to do it.
