Well Gentleman when you are young and inexperienced,it is tough to see the world from any perspective but your own.As people age and gain more experience, they become more receptive to the views of others. This holds especially as they begin to see that age and wisdom is a suitable key to the same knowledge and world-view.
I have not seen many people in the 13 to 32 age range that didnot believe they saw the world and its possible events in neat easy to handle categories. They give you respect and you believe they are being receptive but sometimes I may as well be advising a telephone pole.Half or some portion of their consciousness is on what you are saying but the rest is in the grips of their raging hormones, raring to jump into life headlong.
But this is not criticism. The part that is receptive will grow each time you offer your experience. As Yogi Berra, the famous New York Yankee catcher, would say you can teach them your experience. Why?Because they ,God willing, have survived to understand that fact.
It's useless to try to push them.Either your lessons will shine in time or they won't survive or they will become too bull-headed to ever respond. Our knowledge, age, and experience should have taught us by now that we will not always be successful.Knowing that does not make failures hurt any less but it should give us the peace to continue onward. The failure is not you alone. You should suffer no guilt as it takes a minimum of two to communicate.
Remember ,if they are intelligent enough they will realize the more they know the less they realize they really do know.On the path of knowledge each mountain you approach will be higher than the one that preceded it.
My advice is to understand what I have said and be thankful you should not be laboring under a burden of guilt.Personally I get a huge kick out of observing the young enjoy and learn from their experiences.Your Always Pal larry m

SAME REASON AS YOU ASK THE QUESTION. IF YOU DONT VALUE OTHERS THEN WHY WOULD SOME ONE ELSE VALUE YOU. IF YOU HAVE GAINED KNOWLEGGE THEN KEEP IT TO YOUR SELF no need of distributing it. you would be benefitted by what you gain today. start respecting orthers the same will happen to you. try to pretend that you didnt know the stuff before when someone speaks and thats all. they would also surely start respecting you. donate your knowledge to those who needs them not to the undeservers.

There is a saying that "do unto others what you want to be done unto you," If you want A RESPECT give A RESPECT. Can you give anything that is not with you, NO of course so... it follows......If you want to be respected then respect others. In that case that is where the family enters, HOW was this person groomed by his/her family by the shool and by the environment.

because they refuse to accept the fact that someone out there knows more than they do....it is their ego which blinds them.....if they accept the fact that this other person is more knowledgeable...then he can learn from that other person and gain more knowledge himself....his pride also demands that he must be respected by others because he sees himself above other people....at least in his own head....

The reason is that there are many people who think they are know-it-alls. Usually the people who are like this and let you know how intelligent they are simply want you to think this way about them. Ignore them and walk away. You do what is right, and spend your life learning from the other people in the know who don't advertise.

Some people have the feeling that they know it all. They are not open to what other people say and they don't want to be lectured. Maybe they are not respectful of other people in general...

Insecurity ,my friend. They think they will be nobody if they accept other's. If we are sure of our self ,others can either add to me and enhance me or if otherwise,it just does not matter. They have to overcome their insecurity by discovering and being something solid in themselves which they definitely have.
