profiles?

you feel bitter, angry because its never been like that for you.

im a 30 year old borderline personality disorder sufferer, whos known nothing but pain, suffering and injustice, bullying and victimization all through my life.

ive never been in a relationship ever....never been employed....never made any friends....live alone in a one bedroom flat on sickness benifits....i own no posessions except an old computer.

i have no carpets on my floor.

i find myself scowling and feeling angry when i browse people profiles on myspace.....jealous and angry at other peoples happiness and contentment.

angry at their rosy, fat cheeks full of contentment.....girls...guys......

i find myself clenching my teeth with anger....even growling with myself as i stare, angrily at the profiles.

especially at this time of the year when everybodies supposed to be having a good time with family and friends.

The dream took place in downtown Detroit, Michigan after a hockey game. I was walking along Detroit’s riverfront in the middle of the night when all of a sudden, I see the Renaissance Centre on fire. For some reason, I am happy to see the complex in flames. I then look up and see Brandon, in a Michigan State hockey jersey (I really don’t like Michigan State), stranded on one of the top floors of the 72-story building. He then jumps out of his hotel window to his death. I feel relieved knowing that Brandon is dead.

Several old friends (Anthropology Proffs) of mine have almost come to blows over dating of Mungo man & MtDNA results of the find. Needless to say, one is an "out of Africa" buff while the other subscribes to the "regional evolution" of Homo Sapien. Is any project underway to do a complete genome sequencing of the find, using the new technology being used on Neandertal? I've been told Mungo man's MtDNA is closer to neandertal, than to modern sapien, despite the modern appearance of the skeleton? Any new data or enlightenment on this? Dating varies from 42,000 to 66,000 on this find... much dispute over methods.

I know, everyone has problems, but I realized, there's not anyone to tell or talk to. There's no such thing as real trust, or someone NOT being judgemental, or someone actually caring. BECAUSE EVERYONE else has problems as well. Including pyschologist./psychiatrist. sounds pessimistic but isn't this true? The idea of going to a psychologist just kills me. I have to pay someone to listen to me??...isn't that really how it is? they listen, make themselves care, and hopefully help you but in the end it's all b/c you paid them.

Are any of you real? How do you know the rest of us are not figments of your imagination, how do I know you are not only figments of mine? Philosophical answers are more than welcome, they are encouraged. How did we get here? What is human? What is the impact of LSD on the mind, and what goes on the human mind when a chemical like LSD is invited into it? If you are white trash, please don't answer. If you are a philosophical being who contemplates his or her life on this planet, in this galaxy, please answer thoroughly and justly.

if you're that type of person can you tell how is it so? can you really feel it? or is it natural to you?

G&WS very frequently highlights the divisions between the genders. Abusive relationships. Childcare custody battles. Gold Diggers. The list goes on.

For all that, and with no prejudice to the answers, what do you believe? Are most relationships fundamentally nurturing and healthy, or are they dysfunctional lives of quiet desperation. Perhaps somewhere in the middle?

There are no right or wrong answers here, I guess it is a question of your own outlook and experiences.

It would be really interesting to know why you believe what you believe too.

I have heard alot of ghost stories in my life and have never been a true believer but I always kept an open mind.
However, I have recently moved into a new place and things have started to disappear. It seems something important goes missing the day after you use it. I have searched the entire house looking for them.
At first i thought i just misplaced them but now im not so sure as something else went missing last night that would be pretty hard to remove from its place. It had another object attached to it that requires force to remove it and that was left there!!!
Also at @ 2am my bedroom door slammed shut but there was no wind and also when i got up in the morning i couldnt get out of my bedroom the door was locked, i didnt even know there was a lock!!! The lock even required force to move it up and down.....Very strange indeed.....now im starting to get a bit scared!!!
Any ideas how to talk to this ghost or get rid of it as i dont want everything to go "missing"

If you have, what was it, and what did it feel like?

Some examples that come to mind of the sort of shift meant are:

Deciding that there is, or is not a God where you previously thought the opposite.
Deciding poverty is caused by oppression rather than laziness.
Shifting from a Pro Life stance to a Pro Choice stance.

What's interesting to me is not just what those changes were, but how you felt.

For me there have been a few of these sorts of changes, shifts in belief, and at the beginning I have always found them really uncomfortable. Shaking off long held ideas and ideals and moving to totally new ways of seeing things. Then becoming more comfortable and happy with the new established patterns.

Have you ever had a Radical Shift in Beliefs?

What are Your Experiences?

How did it Feel?

I tend to be overtalkative when in social situations, especially with new people. I usually do ok after I've known someone for a while, but I often don't get the opportunity to know people better. I've spent time tryint to study comedy and I am constantly trying to learn how to listen better, etc, it just takes time, like it took me about a year before I was relaxed around certain people. So, I try hard, but it just doesn't happen quickly, but people form opinions of me and they dont' give me a chance. Once people spend one on one time with me, they find out I'm a great person, but often this doesn't get to happen. I guess part of it is that I don't follow group conversations that well. as I've continued to improve healthwise I have gotten better. I'm not sure what more I can do. I really do try hard to focus on others, I try to listen, and I really seek to take an interest in others, I've gotten better, but people still tune me out. I read a lot of books to try to improve.

When I hear views that contradict mine, I tend to immediately react by putting my own ideas forward, and identifying flaws in the opposing views.

Sometimes I play devils advocate, generally amongst groups of friends who share my opinions, but want to enjoy the debate.

Very rarely, but sometimes, I will sit down and really try to think "in the mindset" of views which oppose my own. Work to the best of my ability to understand them, elaborate on them and see if they logically override my existing beliefs.

Because if you cannot challenge your beliefs with all your own intellect, in your own time, in quiet reasoning, how can you really have the courage of your convictions?

It seems like a philosophical question, yet I think it applies very strongly to the prejudices between genders. Walking a mile in the others shoes, beyond that, looking logically at why people hold different beliefs.

How often do you put your own Intellect at the Service of Opinions that Contradict your Beliefs?

I don't understand it. I doubt if you would find a single male who thinks a woman is attractive who looks like a skeleton or a stick insect. I've never come across any males who think so.

I do this once in awhile. On the positive side it is kind of fun to think about what might have happened if I took this road and not that one. Maybe life would have been better. My latest thought has been that I should have joined the Marines or Army Infantry when I enlisted at age 18. This would have given me better character, leadership abilities, and self esteem. Instead, I joined the Army Signal Corps at 18, became a radio operator, worked and lived comfortably, mostly inside, in Heidelberg, Germany, became a lazy, manipulting, conniving womanizer, fake and alcoholic for the next 23 years. Now I wonder if that decision to take the easy route was my first big mistake of many that limited my life and happiness.

Please don't comment on my experience, just say what you want to, about thinking back at the good and bad important decisions in life. Is doing this at all useful or is it harmful? What is your story (optional) of a good or bad decision made in the past?

When I came home from Iraq initially, I had Re-occuring nightmares. Over time these subsided, but now, I have extremely violent dreams where I'm either still in Iraq or some other life threatening situation where I end up killing people. Sometimes the dreams are like worst case scenerios for me and I can't tell that I'm dreaming, then, when I wake up my heart is beating so hard that I think it's going to come out of my chest and my pillow is almost always covered in sweat. What does this mean and how do I fix it?

so you dream that you're dreaming and in that dream you wake up and it's just like a normal day, only you're still asleep in real life. And then you are still dreaming but you dream that you woke up from the dream you were dreaming you were dreaming so then when you actually do wake up for real you don't know if you're awake or still dreaming. So then it turns into you dream that you're dreaming and inside that dream you dream that you're dreaming inside that dream. I get those all the time. Does anyone else get them too? It's so confusing

This forum is designed to be a place where questions and answers are exchanged. Community Guidelines clearly and explicitly set out rules which preclude chatting, ranting, insulting other forum users and many more things besides.

Yet in th 3 months or so that I have been here, in most every section, it seems more like a social networking site. Q&A are posted to provoke responses. Set agendas. Retaliate or disprove ideas set out in previous Q&A. And I wonder if this were not the case, whether the site would exist, or perhaps just become one vast Homework Help forum, relying on the generosity of those able to contribute.

Given that (in my view), this forum is more Edutainment and Social Networking than some "pure" Q&A ideal, and the human tendency to use all means of communication to relate to each other,

how do you deal with annoying "friends"? first off shes more of an aquaintance then a friend, you know people you just talk to at school or work, nothing more then that.so ive known "her" for a while.most people change throughout highschool better or for worse,in this case worse.A while back she use to be somewhat respectful person. now what makes her annoying is the fact that she is rude disrestful, does not answer you in a positve manner, and always has something negative to say, brags ect and just plain out annoying..ive told her already to change her attitude if she still wanted to be cool with me.i am a type of person that will not take any disrespect lightly for most cases, but since ive known her for a while i feel as if i should just take it lightly and ignore the crap she gives me. i have to deal with this each day due to the fact that i have her in a class. how can i deal with this situation.forgot to mention that she is not the "most flattering" looking girl either, may this be the reason of her attitude?

I am sick and tired of people answering questions with self righteous moral diatribes about how "this is wrong" and "you shouldn't do that". Whatever happened to Yahoo! Answers being a place to get answers to a question, straight forward, with no one using the forum as a pulpit to "teach a person a lesson" about abortion, child abuse, neglect, etc.? If I ask a question about something specific I expect an answer. If I ask specifically for an opinion I expect an opinion.

I know I am sick of it. I was just wondering when Yahoo! answers became Yahoo! opinion.

What are your thoughts on the psychological mindset of the individuals who continually disredard all the rules and policies that were set forth to help people get the "answers" they are looking for instead of opinions?
