does that mean I have wasted a good portion of my life on Yahoo! answers and maybe should get a real hobby like collecting stamps, playing golf, chasing women or drinking or something else? What do you recommend?

If you have achieved these score by putting enough real churning and by answering worthy questions helping others, then certainly you should have double appreciation.
If you have gained this score by answering silly, waste, time pass, entertainment based question, then i feel you have wasted enough of the precious time.
Keep answering worthy questions which in turn help you to increase your inner positive personality.

Whatever you decide to do I think I'll join ya because i am sure my job will soon let me go because it is only in that portion of my life which I use Yahoo.
