Social distance is the degree to which people are accepted or not accepted. Willingness to admit someone to one's family shows the least social distance [1 on the social distance scale], and refusal to admit them to the country shows the greatest social distance [7 on the social distance scale].

Surprisingly, social distance in America with regard to many ethnic groups has actually been rising since 1975.

Why do you think social distance has not declined despite all the efforts to foster "diversity" and "equality?"

Have you seen examples of social distance (such as mean-spirited ethnic jokes or prejudiced remarks)? Being careful not to reveal anyone's identity or repeat any offensive remarks, give an example of what you have heard or seen. How did you react to the incident?

I just posted a long, emotional essay a while back. And I wrote in when I was having one of my "emotional trips". But re-reading it again, I feel that I went a little too overboard with it. My intent was correct, but I think I got a little over-emo about it. Do you feel the same way? Do you find my essay to be a bit "stupid"?

Oh, and this is the essay I'm talking about:

i like strong independent women that are feminine and dont have to go around proving they are strong. they just are.

i cant stand submissive ones. they are to clingy and have a very olden day way of thinking. also they realy have no concept of self and dont stand up for themselves.

Everybody has a special summer where they met new friends, gained new experiences, found new love, or just lived to their fullest. When you think of those memories you often think of a song that pairs with these emotions whether it be romantic, "kick back and enjoy" type music, soft and gentle, etc... What song made an impact on your life from a past summer and what memory do you often relate it to?

Here are the military standards for men and women:

http://usmilitary.about.com/library/milinfo/blmarinefitness.htm

Again, easier standards for men and women. Women don't even have to do pull-ups to qualify. why? Because most cannnot do them, and there would be almost no women able to qualify if they had to meet the same requirements as men. But hey, we need to have the same number of men and women in the military. I mean if its the choice of young men dying in combat b/c they are paired with physically inferior women, or the choice of being politically correct, well then we have to be politically correct.

Please respond to these FACTS. Another example of men being discriminated against so radicals like Baba Yaga are apeased.

When will this stop? When will these people recognize biological differences b/w men and women, and stop regurciating social construct nonsense.

does that mean that women shouldnt be feminine and that women should be more like men? while gender and sex are different obviously the behavioral traits of the sexes are distinct from one and other. one being masculine and one being feminine. but since feminists say that gender is a "social construct" then that would mean that instinctual behavioral characteristics are created by society. which is false considering that masculinity and femininity are distinct from one an other even in the animal kingdom. so wouldnt it be defying nature when fighting the "social contruct"??

My girlfriend finished with me 2 weeks ago. Then the other day, she sent me a message to ask if I'd like to go for a drink with her, only as friends, where we could just chat etc. I after thinking long and hard agreed. The problem was that the drink was terrible, she just started having a go at me,basically saying why she finished with me, and that she's seeing a new guy now, who's much 'better'...i just got quite upset...and i admitted rather stupidly that i had strong feeling for her, and that i loved her....she replied...that i didn't mean it...and then i just walked out...about 2 hours after, i got a message saying that she was sorry for all the hurtful stuff she said. i didn't reply. then yesterday, i get another message saying that she wanted to be friends with me, if i wanted to, and she says she thinks it can work.....i haven't replied yet...what should i do...feel like not replying! then today, even tho didnt reply, get other txt 'u could have at least replied'... i havent!!!

My question is this, does anyone know any female that was molested by there mother figure, (in my case, my adopted mother). And whether or not you have, how do you deal with intense hatred for the person. No, letters do not work and i simply don't have the means to go to psyh doctors. Any new light or ideas are welcome.

For the record, i have put this Q up in a different area and since everyone wanted to be so negitive, I will be very honest in saying, i'm NOT playing victim here and i'm NOT looking for sympathy. This has happened to me and there isin't a week that goes by that I don't feel intense hatred. I'm trying to get over it and that is why i ask, i'm trying to move on in life. So Baby Yaga, go jump off a cliff!
