I ask "what can I learn?" Sometimes I start with "why me?" but spending time there for me is just a pity party and I'm eager to get on with the point of what the problem brings up and then I want to look for solutions to avoid the problem in the future.

I tend to ask "What can I learn?". Mainly, because I believe that if I'm in a bad situation, or problem, then I probably did something to get there, and that I'm there for a reason. I think looking at a problem from this perspective is less stressful because you don't spend all of your time feeling sorry for yourself, instead you look for ways to learn to fix the problem and avoid it in the future.

Three months ago I always used to ask myself "why me", but recently I realized that if a problem happens, i really should ask myself what i can learn from it because no problem can ever get solved by feeling sorry for yourself.

I usually ask myself first, "Was there something I did to cause this?" That way I can see where I need to begin to change the negative situation. Most of the time, humans create their own problems, whether through an action or inaction. If you caused it, it is up to you to change it. If it wasn't something you caused, then you can only determine how much you will let it affect your life, or how much control it has on your future. And then move on...

It's usually not when a problem arises that you ask "what can I learn from this" but more times, reflectively, after you have dealt with the problem.
It's sorta like...."when you're up to your as s in aligators....it's hard to remember that your main objective, was to drain the swamp"!

I do not ask why me but ask myself what if anything I can do to make it better.
