That's difficult|
If you find that you are slipping into major depression, take St. John's Wort| It is a herbal remedy, hence natural, hence does not have all the side effects that the artificial chemicals have that are so often prescribed.
St. John's Wort is wonderful, also, in that it works within the hour, and not within weeks as do the chemicals|
We have to know that the classical definition of depression as anger turned inward is correct|
If one is suffering depression, it is *always* because he or she has been the target of some injustice or other|
That injustice need not be consciously recognized, but it is there nonetheless| If it is not consciously recognized, the subconscious definitely picks it up, at that is responded to with anger, which so often manifests itself as depression\
Now I know about the chemical imbalance paradigm for depression (that Seretonin may be lacking and that sort of thing)|
Well it is true that depression may alter the chemical balance of the brain (I would say that it would always do so), when you are prescribed an SSRI or something like that, it does rebalance a chemical or two (while creating all sorts of other imbalances and side effects at the same time), that can give a *feeling* of relief, but the depression is still there, underneath, nonetheless|
The only way that the depression can be healed is if the injustice suffered is dealt with at its root and rectified. That is the only way|

Sometimes you have to go into major depression in order to resurrect yourself. It's not such a bad thing. Your soul guides you through it. Don't resist. Allow it & move through it. You'll see that a light is at the end of the tunnel.
Believe me I have had first hand experience with this. You don't need to heal completely. You can feel the pain & the joy at the same time. It's a very sacred experience.
Then you begin to create your new life. Imagine whatever you want & stay with it. Believe nothing but what you want. You can create a better life.
When your body is physically ill, isn't pain a warning sign? It can save your life. Well emotional pain can save your life as well. It just needs to be tended too. Your heart will heal.
I'm sending you blessings.

Here are 6 easy steps to heal emotional pain:
1) Find the source of your emotional pain.
2) Approach the source frontally.
3) Close firmly the fingers of your hands until they form fists.
4) Apply abovementioned fists to the source energetically while helping the process by some stern, but just comments...
5) Retreat to safe place.
6) Drink a glass of healing beer.

Unfortunately there is no such thing as healing apart from the passing of time. That is the natural process. So Hope is your own encouragement. The hope that you will learn from whatever mistake you have made to cause this wound.
It will always help us to know what is depression. Mainly depression is produced by having a mind of sorrow for self. Im sure that you may need to be held. we all go through something. Be strong. But go out there and help someone else.Take your mind off of you and please remember not to think of what or who you think hurt you. Lest you never get to realize the things about yourself you need to change. Joy comes when you see that, Hey! you're alive, you're wiser. Remeember never put your trust in man to a certain point. that you'd forget that he is full of faults. That's a heartache bound to happen.
Peace.

You accept the situation, do not blame. Hurting stops time. How much time are you willing to lose? You need to let go. Forgive.
These types of questions are always difficult to answer when you don't know the situation but basically, do the above.

For me it was just bettering myself in all aspects. I started running again, took up new hobbies, am in the process of finishing my college degree, keep everything organized, treat myself to pedicures, and try and meet different kinds od people. It's a lifestyle change usually, mostly it was just gaining the faith and confidence in myself and getting my life back on track. Never underestimate optimism.

Don't be afraid to talk about it... or cry about it. Sometimes just letting it all out helps a lot.
Don't let it consume you, don't let be everything you think about. Just try to get through each day like you normally would.
And time... it's a cliche, but it does heal all wounds. So, just know that in your head and in your heart.
