I am writing a paper on using positive reinforcement instead of traditional parenting techniques. This is for an English class, I am in the first stages of writing this paper and I am in need of knowing some history on the subject. I have looked in my psychology text book and online and I am not finding what I need. I realize this is a form of operant conditioning, so do I date back to B.F. Skinner's research? Is there nothing more up-to-date?

Thanks in advance for all of your input.

Whenever I'm around people and have nothing in particular to talk about, I can never think of things to say. I like socializing with people, i'm articulate, and seem to be able to talk about things when the time is right (when a particular subject comes up) but it seems i can never start a conversation or think of things to say without asking a bunch of stupid questions. This is driving me nuts. I sit quietly and think as fast as I possibly can for things to say, but to no avail.. ANNYYY POINTERS/TIPS/ADVICE AT ALL.. from anyone else who is like this....

Didja ever have a dream where you couldn't explain what you were dreaming? That someone was trying to tell you something and that dream was coming from "the other side"?

2 years ago when I was 17 I was in a really bad car crash, I was in the hospital for 1 weeks. because I was in a coma for 3 days, and a broken leg. Latley I have been having nightmares of the day I had the car crash. The dreams feel so real, like it happened again. It has made me really sad over the few weeks. Usually I'am a really happy person, and you know all upbeat. Some of my friends say I'am acting really sad.
I can't shake the accident out of my mind, because I have nightmares about it almost everynight.
Should I go see a psychiatrist?

Think of the X-Men 3 scenario. A "cure" is created for mutants, and even though mutants are voluntarily lining up to get it, Magneto's gang attacks. They say they don't need a cure, so no one should get it. But, there were some who wanted to change.
This is something we see in society as well. Alcoholics and gays come to mind. Both are groups that some people want out and seek help, while the others get mad about it and attack. I don't understand this concept. If someone is unhappy, why should they be attacked for seeking to change their lives? Do they not have the right to change as much as others have the right to stay?

a) My dashing good looks. (blond and muscular)
b) My super high intelligence.
c) My ability to beat everyone in a diss battle.
d) My god-like attributes.
e) My great sence of humor
f) All of the above.

These are your only choices, I'm afraid. If you don't give an acceptable answer, my bodyguards will come after you and beat you up for: not an answer, insulting other participants, point-gaming. Everyone is welcome to answer the question except rats, pigs, jellyfishes, hamburgers and clouds.

My personal opinion is that students of psychology and psychiatry are taught to believe to believe only one thing! and it is biased.

Think about this before answering my question.

There is a guy who always make me flustered around him, because I like him. there is another guy who never makes my heart race.

should I TRY to date the former one? or I should date the latter one?

I say "try" when i refer to the former one. since i get so nervous around him. i guess dating with him could be an excitement(well, he is the one I like!) or a misery(well, imagine feeling pass-out for a whole day)

for the latter one, pros is: I need not to feel lonely anymore! cons is: I am just lying to myself. Why cant I date with someone I truly like? BTW, knowing that one day I am going to marry a guy that cant even make my heart race is even worst than passing out.

Please give me some advice. Thanks in advance!

What do you do when the tears won't come? I have recently suffered the loss of some loved ones who died unexpectedly at a young age. I haven't really grieved yet. I think of them all of the time, but then I just push the thoughts aside. I don't want to feel the pain, but I know that the sorrow and grief is waiting to envelope me and I'm afraid that it's going to all come down on me when I least expect it. I feel lost and confused. Any advice?

Maybe I should say attachment, although I think relationship is true too. I'm talking about women who really like chocolate and men who really like beer. Can you compare the two relationships and explain which one you think is stronger or greater and why. You can answer this whether you like chocolate or beer or not. Just really think about it first.

When I was in High School ( Im now 30) I remember having a very vivid dream about demons. I remember everything about it from the way the wind felt , conversations and also colours that were in my dream. It was very scary and felt so real. I have often thought about it over the years. If you have the time I will tell you about it and maybe someone can shine some light on it and tell me what it means.

The dream starts with me in my bedroom, I have another friend from High School who is staying over also. In the dream I remember telling her as we are getting ready for bed that what ever she does she is not to open the curtains at anytime nor is she to look out the window. She promises me she wouldnt and so we both go to sleep. However im woken at some point in the night to my friend screaming looking out the window. I also look out only to see 3 demons looking in at us. They are just floating there. They were so real and evil. What does it mean when you dream about demons.
