The fear of being noticed. The chance that someone might want to do harm to you. Low self esteem leads to shyness. You feel that you are not worthy of someone's attention. You are worthy and need to understand that. You don't make friends easily and if a friendship is made, you might feel that you are not good enough. You are good enough. The best friend is a loyal friend, to a certain extent. Learn to recognize when they are using you and walk away. Be your own best friend. Look inside yourself and find what hidden talents you may have. Find a hobby that is interesting to you and that makes you feel good about yourself.

There's nothing wrong with you.

Set a goal for next week. On Wednesday, you're going to make a real effort to look at your teacher during attendance. It's cool, you can do it once. After that, assess how you felt. What were you thinking and feeling during that experiment.

The week after next, do it twice in the same week. Keep stepping it up and examining your thoughts.

Just a thought, pick a different moniker. GG Allin was a disturbed man who did not live very long. Don't make the same mistakes he did... Just a thought.

I've always had to force myself to look people in the eye--it does not come naturally to me. It's a combination of 'stage-fright', nerves, low self-esteem, and any number of other reasons.

If this is your only problem, then just force eye contact with others. Practice with friends and family first. Good luck--practice makes perfect.

i think that you probably suffer from low self esteem, and you do not really want someone to look into your own eyes, to see who you really are. I as well do not really like to let people look at me in the face, not that I am hiding things, I am terribly self conscious, and usually struggle with the self esteem thing.

You may have other problems, but with this little bit of information, I would guess you are socially anxious or what some people would call highly self-conscious.

There's a big difference between "What's wrong with me?" and "Why do I do that?" Why phrase the question that way?
