Social Science - 15 January 2007

A friend that I love like a sister, is stuck in a downward spiral that I don't know how to help her out of. I think she needs a DOCTOR- a PSYCHIATRIST, or something. But I don't even know where to begin looking. I love her. I do- but I'm out of words... I've tried everything i know, said everything I can, and she is still trapped in a lifestyle that will kill her. She almost OD'ed in October. And she has supposedly stopped doing drugs, but she is strippping and still induldging in destructive behavior. I can't turn my back on her completely. We don't hang out anymore, but she's my roommate and it's hard to look away when I see her come home in shambles, and tears. The strip club where she works is trashy, and so are the people. They suck her down deeper into that lifestyle. Please HELP ME HELP HER. We live in LA. Anyone know any good doctors?

The points system is throwing me off. I grab a great question, start getting into my answer as if they only asked me, and then the points sign says Congrats for a few points. This can be a good thing for me to practice while I am on sabbatical forever now. I can keep my hand in without risking life and death!! But how do I calm my competitiveness down? I am 100% serious-------ALL the time!! Is that why I love this, because it has the opportunity to be fun too? Sometimes I die laughing over someone's 3 word answer or their whole witty speech!! There are some clever people here (my glass is suddenly half full) and I want to let go and experience this different form of human interaction!! How do I forget those damn points and curb my enthusiasm? No Abuse Please. Nor do I need a report about self-esteem. I would cut my time here out completely and clean the house if I wanted to feel bad. Many Thanks. Appreciate it. (Every time)

i do i feel everso down at the moment. i would like a job but i am waiting for my grandaughter to go to a new school, i don,t have no friend where i live. i walk around on my own, i get real bloody lonely, i want someone i can go and have coffee with in the daytime. i have some friends from church but they are always busy with other people. i feel no one likes me, and i am not a nice person.

I'm 17 years old and I'm a pretty normal guy but why am I so angry?
I continuously argue with my parents, I snap at every other word, When I study I get pissed off cuz of all the bullshit they put in the book and not just get to the point. I get mad at my computer for being slower than normal. I mean I'm going crazy over here. How do I stop this anger?

a friend of mine, comes from family where her parents divorced when she was very small child. She has no contact with her father for very long time. She doesnt like her mother. She doesnt have alot of faith in people and questions their motives. Yet she is a lovely person, is married and is very grounded. lately i dont know, but ive been wanting to get away from everybody. like ive been trying to put myself out of the way so people need me less and less. i know i just sound like emo kids but i feel like my days are numbered.and it makes me way less scared for some reason. like im more daring but im also trying to be alone more.i feel so depressed, but the wierdest part to me is now im feeling more closer to God the farther i get away. its not much of a question. but i just want u to tell me what u think. thank you

The definition in the dictionary of feminism is the doctrine advocating social, political, and all other rights of women equal to those of men. What is so terrible about that?
Not that women are better than men just that they are not less either.
Why when people think of feminists do they think of the nutcases that do crazy things?
They are not what feminism is anymore than Fundementalists are what religion is about.

Here is the problem: I am such a shy person. I don't have too many interests, and I'm not very witty. I have been with my gf for awhile now, and I don't understand how she puts up with me. I never have much to say, but I love her and her daugher so much. There are times when we just sit there and say nothing. I've asked her about all this, and surprisingly, she says that whenever she thinks about me, she smiles. She says that she doesn't know how I can be with her. She is insecure too. She says that she loves me, but how? She is not the funnest person either, but when she talks to some of her friends, I notice that she smiles and laughs alot. I wish I can make her laugh like her friends do. She seems to have so many stories to tell about her life, but I never have much to say because I've had a bad past. I do sweet things for her such as interact with her daughter (I'm always fun with her daughter), take her out, and take care of her when she's sick. Can we survive?

Im great friends with a young man who is so sweet, kind, nice, just has great personality traits. But he has a disorder that when he gets really angry he turns into "jack" this "jack" hates my friend and my friend is completely controlled by this "jack" ive talked to jack and hes is completely different and evil compared to my friend. I feel alittle scared when I talk to him. But its only temporary, after alittle while my friend "comes back" and i tell him and he appologizes greatly, and doesnt like it when jack comes out infront of me. I seems like he doesnt relieze jack has come out at that moment. my friend knows about jack and says its the "evil side of my brain". ... I really want to help him, for his sake. is there anyway that I can? does anyone have useful info in this topic? and has anyone experianced it with a friend or relative? thanks for your time.

Albert Dock in Liverpool, v.sunny w/a few little white clouds in a really blue sky & (if there are in real life) lots of red ships moored around its edges.

Camera goes out from ECU of my eye in 1 frame (Like Noodle in Gorillaz El Manana video) to CU of my face looking up to 'camera' (In this case, the sky), to MLS of me looking out across the dock (facing towards camera at an angle), to LS (full body) of me looking towards sun, with 1 arm crooked above my eyes.

Then ML shot of me walking slowly along by the dock towards one of its edges. Textures & colours of background in vid similar to El Manana, but a bit greyer (this IS Liverpool, after all!). Fades in to me walking along about 3 times (Camera facing me all this time).

ELS of me walking along (in profile)&I stop at edge. People are there too, but they're blurred out in comparison to me. I stop by edge opposite the Liverpool Tate/shop before it, turning so I'm looking out towards side opposite the Tate.

My 19 year old daughter is driving me crazy. She sleeps all day, up all night watching tv. or out with friends. She makes a mess of the bathroom leaving her towels, and clothes on the floor. She neglects her chores, and discusses inappropriate things around her younger sibs ages 11,9,7. On the weekends she drinks heavily, not like we did when we were kids. She quit school, doesn't have her GED, and has no job. In the state of NY you are responsible for your kids until age 21. So that means I can't kick her out on her azz. Please help!!!!!!

I feel like something is wrong with me. It's hard for me to express myself in front of large groups of people without crying. There are so many things I've wanted to do like public speaking but haven't ever been able to do that because I would get so nervous that I would start crying. Is there anything I can do to get over my anxiety?
